The Gamepad is perfectly serviceable for Smash, but the GC controller is ideal, I have to admit. Kinda funny how this series continues to breathe life into a controller for a system that's over a decade old now. Gotta say though, using the 3DS as a controller feels kind of awkward and gimmicky. They're definitely worth putting up with as a trade off to have a version I can take on the go, but why on earth would I want to use that circle pad on the console version when there are multiple control options with actual thumb sticks?
Anyway, does anyone have a guide to unlocking all the stages in event mode? I know the events you're supposed to play, but I'm not sure how to navigate the grid to get to those events.
Not planning on getting Smash U until Christmas; Smash 3DS can hold me until then.
So I have a question for those who picked up both versions: if you link up the 3DS and Wii U versions, what transfers?
Icon by Civvi the Civilian!I already got the one requisite kill(s) in Cruel to get Duck Hunt. Wanted to get that out of the way immediately.
Can you believe they only had ONE Villager amiibo at my local Gamestop? And no Lonks. Heck I saw more Petch then Malleo.
You can transfer customized characters, natch. Including each and every Mii you made.

When you wish upon a side of beef, soon will come an end to all your griefOh yeah, I'm not saying it wouldn't have its uses in certain situations. They clearly anticipated people wouldn't be using a 3DS as a main controller all the time since only the main Smash modes are playable with it. Anyway, it certainly doesn't harm the game in any way by being there.
My brother and sister this morning were really sad this morning because they couldn't play it yet.
Unfortunately for them, I don't have class today!
Already unlocked all the characters and stages too.
Cruel Smash is a bitch.
Even with these awkward wings, dyed with images that seem to stay. I'm sure we can fly, on my love! 3DS Friend Code: 2809-9138-8756In less than 24 hours I've already got my aMariibo up to level 50. I named him Amri. Now just comes the feeding him...
But it doesn't seem that I can use him in any other mode besides Smash, so that's unfortunate...
Also, I found out that you can't alter custom fighters that you imported from 3DS. Which means that if I want to change them I'll have to change them on 3DS and import them again and that'll just take so long until I start getting good things on Wii U.
Oh well. Been having fun. I like the new stages and 8-player Smash and the new modes. There's alllllways something to do.

Can I just say that fighting the Fighting Mii Team in Cruel Smash is a terrifying experience? The Brawler can kill me if he so much gets a hit in or he might lock me in place with his multi-hit combo for others to get the kill, the Swordfighter's range makes it horrible to approach him, and the Mii Gunner has projectiles with incredibly long range for a Fighting ____ Team member so I'm practically unsafe no matter where I am or who I'm fighting. Not to mention that they are less vulnerable to exploits now.
It's like they actually lowered the number of opponents I had to beat in Cruel Brawl from 5 to 4 as if they knew I was going to get my ass kicked if I tried to get the usual 5 kills...
