Some are anticipating that the Smash Pokemon amiibos will be used for Pokken (which I just now realized is the combination of the words Pokemon and Tekken) in some way.

Retailor exclusive Amiibos probably exist to get them on shelves. Mario and Link will sell for sure, but Shulk is kind of niche, and many retailers may not want to carry him since he likely won't sell a lot.

Now why Lucario (one of the biggest Pokemon) is an exclusive I have no idea.

They making some popular characters exclusive so people will associate the not as popular ones with them. It's a mind game marketing strategy that only crazy people will notice.

What I discovered today is that Shadow Sneak is great for off-stage K Os if you can get the timing right. Now I just need to stop killing myself trying to use Hydro Pump to come back to the stage.

Oh how I want to use my Pro Controller already. No, I'm not getting the GC Adaptor, doesn't feel worth the investment tongue

Gonna post this in the multiplayer thread too, but what I'm thinking of doing is running an official Tvtropes Semi-Annual tournament, once the tournament system in the game is up.

There will be a Winter one, and a Summer one.

I showed Smash 4 to a friend yesterday and he had only ever played Melee. He said he had to get the game when I showed him the character select screen. His excitement only grew when I showed him the Koopalings. He was even super excited to see a Dark Link alt.

It seems that Rosalina & Luma may be exclusive to Target. I don't recall seeing their amiibo among the ones pushed out early in the incident I mentioned earlier, so I can't confirm until tomorrow probably when I return to work. It's possible that they'll be available at Walmart instead.

If it's true, Rosalina & Luma may be among the first amiibo purchases I make, since I've been messing with them in between Smash Run sessions and kind of like their playstyle (they almost remind me of the fighters I used in Brawl).

The Smashamiibos were originally intended to bejustforSmash, but now Nintendo is patching other games to be compatible with them.

I guess this means that Mega Man is gonna be Smash-exclusive, y'know, because Capcom.

If it weren't for the outfit for Miis in MK8, Falcon's amiibo probably would've been Smash-only, too.

Also Ness. Also Duck Hunt. Also Mr. Game & Watch. Also R.O.B.

Can't picture how a Wii Fit Trainer amiibo would be used in a Wii Fit software piece, either.

But guys, all of them are somewhat compatible with Hyrule Warriors.

Ah, by the way, I tested Palutena with Pulse. We're pretty sure her f-tilt does indeed deal increased shield-damage! ... Although now that I think about it, it might just be that it deals normal shield damage proportionate to its standard damage output, but because the target isn't knocked away it actually hits with all three hitboxes and does a solid 16%...

It's not quite enough to break a shield, but it'll force an offensive turn to the opponent's strategy, and that can leave them open. Palutena's Forward Strong attack has a lot in common with Mr. Game & Watch's Turtle Bridge in that regard.

I sure said that!

Hmm. These retailer-exclusive amiibos. Think they'll be limited-time only? It would be neat to one day have a full collection, but I can't just go buying them all at once.

It was already announced that an unspecified number of them are going to see limited-print runs.

So I finally got all custom specials, but I probably won't get all Mii hats and outfits before the Wii U release...

I'm pretty sure there's a Mario hat that I really wanted. Oh, if I didn't have work tonight I'd just go hammering away at getting them. ;p

I don't typically use hats or outfits, but as always, it's the having, not the needing.

To clarify, if you held Shadow Sneak too long, Greninja would be forced into it after a couple of seconds once the shadow stopped moving. Now it seems to take longer to force.

[up] Not quite, Shadow Sneak activates on it's own at the same time, but it looks like there's a technique that allows you to hold Shadow Sneak forever.

I see. Does that allow you to move the shadow into a more advantageous position (such as if you overshoot)?

Yup, you can adjust it the way you want. Of course by that point the opponent has already seen the shadow so it's not that useful. Still curious though.

You might still be able to play mind games and bait them into rolling, letting you punish them.

Not to mention stages that make it impossible to see the shadow, like Pac Man Omega, are suddenly even more threatening.

This sounds like the type of exploit that would be purged in a future update.
