My math's a bit rusty. About how many wins does it take to nullify a single loss when it comes to For Glory win percentage? I was just assuming 15 before, but now I don't think that's enough...
"It's liberating, realizing you never need to be competent." — UltimatepheerI wish I could say, but I honestly have no idea...but apparently having less Losses doesn't mean much.

There is no set number; win percentages simply take longer to increase (or if you're particularly unlucky, decrease) as your total amount of matches gets higher.
All I know is, there's something fucked up about winning 9 matches and losing 3 while still having a dropping record.
"It's liberating, realizing you never need to be competent." — UltimatepheerAlthough the numbers can vary wildly, it takes a fair number of wins in order to counteract a loss and I think that number goes up as your number of matches goes up.
You see, that's kind of the catch to percentages like that. If you win a match, your number of wins increases by one but so does your number of matches thus the increase in percentage won't be that great. If you lose a match then your number of wins remains the same while your number of matches goes up. You will feel every loss and there's no real way to quickly make up lost ground.

Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!So I have to have an inhuman win streak to make up for all those stress-induced self destructs a couple weeks ago. That's fucking depressing
"It's liberating, realizing you never need to be competent." — UltimatepheerWell, sort of. Once you've done a LOT of matches, your win percentage will barely change no matter what. I'm talking fractions of a percent here. It seems that the best way to get a high win percent is to ALWAYS win your early matches and then at least come out even once you've broken a hundred or so. However, losses do have a bit more effect on the numbers than wins.

What is a fandom? A miserable little pile of flame wars! 3DS FC: 0387-9377-7408 PSN ID: Raven King SageTo answer your question though Baffle, since your win percentage stops at the hundredths place, you would need a win percentage of 99.995% for the game to round back up to 100% should you lose at any point. So that would mean that you would have to win 99995 out of 100000 battles to cancel 5 losses. If we divide 100000 by 5, then...
20,000. It would take 20,000 wins to cancel out a loss.

That.... No. I'm no expert at mathematics but that just looks so wrong to me.

Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!Okay, say you have participated in 700 battles and had a win percentage of 85. That means you had won 595 battles. If you lose the next one, that puts you at 84.88%. In order to get back to a win percentage of 85, you would have to only win the next six matches. If I had your exact numbers and goal, I could give you an exact number of wins.

Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!Whew. So after over an hour of pondering, I think I got it. You would need 19,999 wins to cancel a loss should you be going for 99.995% because the loss is already in the set! 20,000 was the number of matches, not the amount of wins, which is just 20,000-1.
Alternatively, I've found a much easier method to finding out how many wins offset a loss. Just divide wins needed by losses permitted. In order to get a 85/84.995% win record you would need at least 84,995 wins out of 100,000 matches which leaves 15,005 losses. Divide 84,995 by 15,005 and you get ~ 5.664 wins per losses needed to maintain the record. In your example, you won six matches which easily cancelled the loss since you just needed 5.664 wins.
In other words, the amount of wins needed to offset a loss is different depending on the win percentage you're aiming for! And with that I can finally go to bed >_>

Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectMy current win percentage just dropped below 60.5%. If that tens digit turns into a 5note , I'll probably go into another panic and repeatedly SD again.
Especially considering my actual win:loss ratio is about 5:2. My last panic seriously scarred things.

"It's liberating, realizing you never need to be competent." — UltimatepheerI did it! I beat Classic 9.0!
Granted, I did it with Charizard and spammed Rock Smash, and my clone killed itself with Flare Blitz, but still!
I also cheesed Cruel Smash and got 4 K Os with Little Mac. That counter is ridiculous.

Done a bunch of 9.0 trial runs. First run was good with Bowser, then i had a few false starts with Ike and Kirby before i got a few good ones rotating through my other mains and back.
I discovered that if you at least get to the final bosses, the run pays for itself and then some, and gets you boffo loot besides. It only burns you if you flop out in the first few rounds (which, yeah... Kirby and Ike. Not sure why).
Edit: Somewhat annoying, though, because i mostly brute-forced my way through the core the previous times i've encountered it, so never really had to "learn" it. So now it's a pure trial by fire. Really wish there were event Matches for this, so i could practice in a setting that didn't call for 10 minutes of warmup investment for each run.
