I think it's that whoever has the fewest falls and/or lowest % at the end of a tied Vs. Enemy Team or Multi-Man Smash Final Battle is the winner, since it's a somewhat difficult scenario to hold a Sudden Death on.
It could also just be that it defaults to whoever has a lower player number, or whoever got the highest score in the Labyrinth portion.

I sure said that!So here's something I found.
It's a matchmaking site for Smash 4, Project M and Melee. The way the place works is pretty self-explanatory: you create a room, you and your opponent add your codes, then one of you makes the room in-game, then in the chatroom for the match you decide what character you're going to use for the match and what stages you don't want to play on (first match can only be on Final Destination, Battlefield and Yoshi's Island, the second one adds Lumiose City and Arena Ferox), then the chatroom will decide what stages you guys are going to play on and then you can start the match.
I find it better than For Glory because:
A) Stage variety
B) You can actually talk to your opponents.
C) The community is quite friendly and they might give you advice on how to improve your playstyle.
D) There's an actual rank system unlike For Glory, but you can also play friendly matches with no rating.
So this is a pretty good place for your competitive needs! We could even organize the TVT tourney in there maybe!

You had me at "Stage Variety".
...Well not really, as I found out about it earlier.
Still, it's a better option than For Glory in my opinion, which I've started to hate. I probably won't participate in it until I get all the Custom Moves for every character and settle on who I'll be using regularly.

It's funny when you have the collision damage badge on because then you do a Foe-Tossing Charge on everybody
Well, whether or not you can use custom moves depends on whether both players agree with the condition, so you might not be able to use customs very frequently. Better than not being able to use them at all though.
Also here's an amusing thing from the site's rules: "On day one when Sakurai created the smash universe, he said “Let there be salt.” Some players get saltier than others, but salt happens."
Oh I'm not expecting too many players to want Customization enabled at the moment. I'm mostly using "find all Custom Moves'' as an excuse to work with the whole roster in my attempts to obtain said moves (unless I get lucky and find all their moves in one or two Smash Runs, like what happened with Olimar). My method has helped me find more characters that I liked more than the other method of just running them once or twice through Classic and All-Star.
In any case, I've bookmarked the site, and now I only really go online to fight against friends. If I'm in With Anyone, it's mostly to fight in For Fun, or Team Battles in For Glory.
Site sounds interesting...but eh.
I'll bookmark it just in case I actually decide to use it.

Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.Though I will say that Reset Bomb Forest should be added to the counterpick list along with Prism Tower and Arena Ferox. The only anti-competitive bit is the cave of life formed by the destructible platforms in the top-left of the stage's transformed state, and one of Arena Ferox's layouts has a similar issue.
Tortimer Island might or might not work, too- I don't think it's as ideal a counterpick nominee as Reset Bomb Forest but it's definitely one of the quieter remaining stages. 3D land has walk-off issues and scrolls but is pretty not-terrible, too.
... I suspect the existence of Omega Stages was something Sakurai took as carte blanche for making the regular stages really hazardous for the most part.

I sure said that!I'm really worried about my gold supply, to be honest. I'm probably gonna hit the cap in another month or two, and there'll be nothing to spend it on. I really wish there was an equipment shop, since you can never be totally finished gathering equips.

I sure said that! The other characters were Sonic, Falcon, and Pikachu.
Is there a fast way for me to obtain custom specials? (preferably specific to Dark Pit and Robin?) I've tried out the Target Sight trick, which didn't seem to work (just got normal equipment), and Smash Run doesn't really seem to make finding these wrench bags very easy. Note that I have far too little skill to handle Classic 9 (I'm managing to pull off winning classic 5, or rather 4.5 or 4, with 1 or 2 retries for reference, yeah, total noob here. It's usually in the 4 player smash battles where I don't have an ally this happens.) Since I seem to hear the largest number of people say it's Smash Run for the stuff, I guess I just need better info on how to find wrench bags.
Also, speaking of Robin, smash running with her and ending up doing the finish line race is just...cruel. I even have defensive equipment on her...

MMORPGs are serious business. Why is everybody always looking for the easy way to get things.
Equipment and trophies always come randomly, but I've found that custom specials come mostly from using a particular fighter, then taking a break, then coming back. Smash Run powers are really only found in Smash Run, and a few in Challenges.
And part bags in Smash Run come best from beating challenge doors and bigger enemies.
But the idea is to play through the game a lot to get everything and switch around. ;p

You gotta believe me when I scare you away, all that I wish for is that you would stayThe odds are on the lower side for getting anything besides equipment from a Custom Part sack, unfortunately.
Smash Run really is the answer, since it's six minutes long at the most and can be cheesed via Powers. Try to get Spinning Blades, at any level- It'll make life much easier.
I sure said that!'Cause I'm not interested in playing for 60+ hours in order to obtain 16 moves so that I can find out which ones I want to actually get used to using.
Not that I'm ever going to use more than three characters anyway (any more than this and my already meh fighting game skill and patience dilutes too much to improve.)
I'm guessing Powers refers to the attack equipment? Not sure what you mean by spinning blades though, unless that's another specific equipment thing. I don't really mind getting more equipment at long as I'm getting something. (except when I get character-specific equipment that no one I want to use only does...)
MMORPGs are serious business.

I also had a tie during the Multi-Man Smash final battle in Smash Run with my friend. We tied in first but the game considered me the winner.
