[up][up]Dude's a fairly well known and popular game reviewer. They seem to be sending review copies out, and I guess they gave him one.

I'm guessing Nintendo is having an event to let some Youtubers preview it. Probably how Game Xplain is getting their footage as well.

Ah, wait, I was wrong; Jared's footage is actually from a preview event. He doesn't actually have the game yet.

Here's a distressingly common find in For Glory; the "let's get serious" Little Mac.

You fight a guy, and the guy's fairly easy first round. But come second or third round and, oh, guy's now changing his/her character; specifically he/she's bringing out the Mac daddy, and...Erm, returns vary.

*Shulk is 5'6".
  • Little Mac is 5'7".
Mac's a Composite Character: appearance from the Wii version, abilities (and alternate appearance) from the arcade game. Why not throw in the height of the NES version (4'8), too?

I'm glad that I got the 3DS version. I love most of the new stages in the 3DS version and adore Smash Run. Plus, I'm looking forward to that CD and free Mewtwo. Also before anyone says that he's technically not "free" I was planning on getting both versions even before then so getting Mewtwo at no extra cost is just icing on the cake.

Sheesh, you're that pissed off about Mewtwo, huh?

Honestly, not really. I didn't play as him often, and while I like Mewtwo more as a character than Greninja, not having him in the game doesn't bother me. Not having Snake though, as a Metal Gear fan, bothers me.

I don't even 'do' portable gaming anymore, so most of the stages would be poor references for me (I've never even touched Fire Emblem).

"Not having Mewtwo wouldn't have bothered me".

The kick, though, is, "Oh yeah, if you want Mewtwo, you're going to have to buy both versions.

Eight months later, "Just kidding, we made him DLC anyway."

The way they word it makes it really obvious that he's paid DLC who will be free for a while to people with both.

I've never heard of a significant character DLC being free, but it's not impossible I guess. They sort of emphasized that "making even a single character is a lot of work", so doing all of that work, coming up with a marketing ploy like that, only to toss him out for free later just seems convoluted.

They probably just did it that way as a way to boost sales of the 3DS version even more post-release.

I didn't say that. I said he's gonna be paid DLC, who will be free, initially, to people with both games.

Doesn't Skullgirls give the characters for free for some time before making them paid?

Tekken Tag 2 had free character DLC in a sort of sense. They were added in a patch later after the preorder dealie.

Hoo boy, those are a riot. Do that, and there's a zero percent chance I'll take you seriously anymore. That's why the few times I ever use Mac, it's after I've already won against that person at least once.

...I'd be lying if I said I didn't do something similar, though. I may not have a "let's get serious" Mac, but I do have an "I fucking hate you" Palutena.

I like Dedede: i've found a spam tactic that always seems to work on walk-off stages, at least once, where his down-A (non smash) basically just pushes the unwary right off screen. It's just tricky to gauge the blast zone while you're doing it.

Skullgirls had free characters for a time because it would've taken way too much work to give vouchers to everyone that donated to the Indiegogo campaign to get all the DLC characters. They decided to just make them free for a limited time because everyone who cares enough will jump on the DLC early and it comes with the bonus of a ton of people downloading the characters when they come out. Granted, it's proven to be one of the most effective ways of handling DLC characters in fighting games and other companies have followed suit (like Atlus and Persona 4 Arena Ultimax) but that was more a byproduct than anything. But who knows.

[up][up]Now you have no excuse Sakurai. Wonder Red or Wonderful 101 DLC please.

Makes me wish Arc System Works were in on that system too honestly.

Also does my Tekken Tag 2 thing count?
