Kirby's Down B is one of the more easily punished attacks in the game, which is why it surprises me that people overuse it so much.

Typically I use it for mobility if I'm in situation where I want to go downward very quickly. Outside of that, it's good for surprising people who are too busy fighting each other in a match with more than two people and for safely hitting enemies while they're charging moves: Smash attacks, Ike's Neutral B, etc. And breaking stage hazards, especially if you're tricky enough to hit enemies while doing it.

And sliding shenanigans for fun.

Well, I have tried Flash 2 and while it's physics are a step up from the first game (by miles) I just couldn't get into it. It's a fan game, and it shows. While I appreciate the efforts of fans, it just isn't refined enough for it to be in my top 3 even.

[up][up]It's a very direct attack with ostensible invincibility attached, so I understand why a lot of newbies use it.

The real question is why I have never fought someone who knew how to punish Super Dedede Jump. It's supposed to leave him wide open and the windup is really long, but nope, I hit people with it all the time.

I agree with Pulse regarding Melee and Brawl. Melee was too fast and Brawl was too slow, though I consider Brawl closer to the happy medium than Melee was.

[up][up] From my experience, Super Dedede Jump also deals some damage if you're too close and that stops you right in your tracks when you want to punish Dedede, it's similar to Yoshi's Ground Pound. I don't know if I'm doing something wrong but it feels kinda tricky to punish them whent they use those moves.

Speaking of Kirby's Stone: The stone glitch from Brawl has not carried over to 4; I just got done testing it.

[up][up][up] IIRC, it's so much easier to punish the Dedede Jump before it actually makes contact than any other ground pound that when I played Dedede I tended to only ever use it as a last resort, and always cancelled it as soon as possible.

I wish I had known about grabbing Kirby stone earlier. I just fought two at the same time. Speaking of spamming, do you fight a lot of Pit players who spam his side B?

Oddly, no. There's another character with a similar move who's online users DO spam it, though.

The only kind of move spamming you're most likely to see is Kirby and Pikachu Down-B...they're the most common. You might see a few more, though I don't know entirely.

Seems like practicing online was the way to go from the beginning. Only problem is i had to narrow the characters down by gut feeling rather than anything substantive. I'm looking at 12: Kirby, the guy who's spoilered for whatever reason, Ike, Dedede, Link, Bowser, Lucina, Olimar, Rosalina, Wii Fit Trainer, ZSS, and Pac-Man.

Bowser is just so good this time around. Sakurai's crew really figured out how to make heavyweights work for once.

[up][up][up][up] For future reference, too, if you charge a Smash attack to completion Stone should wear off just before the Smash attack charge finishes, allowing you to hit Kirby with ease. And with higher damage a fully charged Smash attack might break Stone anyway. That's how it worked in Brawl.

Does Stone last less long in Smash 4? Because if not, a charge smash attack won't do nothing if the attack itself isn't strong enough.

I Guess waiting might help.

A grab will work 100% of the time on Stone Kirby, though, whereas a Smash attack has to contend with timing.

[up][up][up]Of course, also applicable to previous Stones is that the user can cancel out of it.

The strat is still valid, of course, but you can't really get greedy with it.

I mained Kirby in Brawl. The best part about stone is that even if you manage to smash Kirby out of it, he only feels the knockback and not the damage.

I actually hate Kirby players who's first instinct is to inhale and copy powers. Worse if they complain about getting Link's boomerang in 64

Though Yoshi players I hate more....because of my friends standing near the edge and pressing b.

Of course, also applicable to previous Stones is that the user can cancel out of it.

At which point you can perform the Smash attack early and hit him anyway. Kirby can't move out of the animation for ending Stone, which includes his ability to block or dodge, and is vulnerable at all points during it.

Timing doesn't really factor into it - if you know what you're doing, the Kirby player is pretty much stuck waiting around to get hit.

[up][up][up][up][up] As long as it doesn't last longer than it does in Brawl, that shouldn't be a problem.

Yeah...cancelling stone early is only useful for a fake-out, doing it after using it for actually attacking is just asking to be Smashed.

So I ended up finding a bug in the game. If you pick up a hammer in Smash Run and get hit at the same time the music goes away until you start the final battle. It makes Smash Run way more unerving then it should be.

You know what bugs me? The only way to access battles like Super sudden Death and Stamina mode is to play them (As they appear randomly) in smash run.

They're probably modes in the Wii U version.[nja]

Personally, I wish the minigames in Smash Run were available for free play. I'm pretty sure they were in Kirby Air Ride, though it's been years since I played it, so I don't totally remember. I want to be able to play Race To the Finish as a Time Trial thing.

They were.

I'm hoping that, in addition to adding more enemies to make the roster less Uprising-heavy, a Smash Run update with more events, free event play and perhaps an event switch is in the works.

I sure said that!
