[up] Still don't think it needs removing or having the entire game completely discredited competitively. If it's too strong, we can get patches now to nerf it. As it is though, I've had no problems playing competitvely with it's presence. It's only the tip of the iceberg on the the amount of hate Smash 4 is getting though.

Hardcore Melee players are stuck in 2001 and hate everything that isn't Melee. I wouldn't listen to anything they say.

@The fully acted game idea. If something like that were to happen I hope Martinet would either change or at least tone down the caricatureness of the Mario gang's voices, especially Mario himself. It's alright when he's spouting catchphrases or doing funny skits and stuff, but to have dialogue in a non-promotional context while talking like that... I dunno.

I'm glad the Shiba Inu trophy doesn't force in a doge reference, so they get kudos form me on that.

..Why were you expecting that reference? Are there other trophies that have descriptions with unrelated-to-Nintendo memes in them?

Eh, I don't care about what Melee players are saying about Smash 4, if they're that quick to hate on the game instead of adapting to it, it's their loss. So far from what I've seen Smash 4 can work pretty well competitively.

No but at the very least they reference the "body is ready" meme which here makes sense at least.

also the Karate Joe trophy might or might not reference Pretty Cool Guy

I think Karate Joe is a pretty cool guy, eh is from a series that didn't get a playable rep despite the fact that everyone was expecting one and doesn't afraid of anything.

I really want to take part in a Smash 4 tournament just to see how I'd do in it, even though I likely will get curbstomped. Unforunately we don't have any tournaments in Brazil.

ah, but we did say we'd have a tv tropes tournament eventually.

we just gotta get around to planning it.

I mentioned that (probably in the other thread), but it'll be harder to do that since there isn't a Tournament Mode in 4 like in previous titles. But I'm sure we can find a way to work something out.

Well, we know that there's no Tourney mode in the 3DS version, anyway.

Well, I would be willing to organize a tournament if possible.

i never actually realised any of the other games had a tournament mode.

i figured we'd just be sorting it out in the thread. /shrug

Well, I think a separate thread should be made for this kind of thing, even if it'll end up only being used once or twice. That way we won't be cluttering up this and the other threads with tourney organization and people who have the game but are for whatever reason not looking at these threads will know about it too.

Tournament mode is never used for actual tournaments anyway. Not the right format – real tournaments use double elimination to allow for coming back from a bad matchup.

Tournament mode was never very useful, yeah.

Though I liked how Melee's tournament mode signified someone playing the random button by depicting them as Ditto.

I sure said that!

I suppose there could be someone hosting the thing and maybe joining in the matches of other participants just to SD himself and spectate the match?

Or is there a way to share replays?

I do think in this setting we can rely on the honor system.

Though having a referee just so that we all know "go to X's room for the tournament" might not be a poor idea. Fewer variables means less room for confusion.

I sure said that!

Ah. Well then.

Not that I know of. I've only seen people record their 3DS directly and there doesn't seem to be a way to search for specific match ups between characters in the Online Mode.

Pulse's suggestion to have a "referee" in a match just so we can have somebody neutral call it seems like a good idea to compensate for that though.

Have started trying out Zero Suit. Am awestruck. But then, also doing notably better with Power Suit Samus than I have... ever, come to think of it.
