On the Customization screen, you can equip Powers found in Smash Run. You start with a few, but you'll need to hunt for most of them- They're in the little yellow sacks with ? on them. Characters can equip more powers if they're slower, so equipment choices matter in regards to Powers.
I sure said that!Oh... Then it's no wonder I never saw the option. I hardly use the Custom option outside of Training and its own menu (I don't like allowing the AI to equip the things you've found, especially since I only use the option to use different movesets).
For all Sakurai praised about his menus, they seem needlessly convoluted sometimes. Case in point, I didn't know where Street Smash and Rival Smash were, so I ended up using my Golden Hammers on their Panel 1 Challenges.

The menus aren't convoluted! ...they're just everywhere.
I didn't start using Smash Run powers until like today. I love the healing. Saves me a senseless KO when I inevitably rack up so much damage.
And now the only challenges I have left are collecting everything and playing enough hours of Smash...whew. I may just use the hammers on those, but I'm gonna hold off just a liiiiiiittle longer.
You gotta believe me when I scare you away, all that I wish for is that you would stayWell, I'd like to thank for letting me know that Powers exist. Smash Run is a bit more nifty with them in tow, especially since some of them can mitigate mistakes.
Pretty much what I do. I assumed those Challenges I used my first Hammers on involved Street Passing though, which is something that doesn't occur all that often with me unless I go to Mcdonald's everyday after work to siphon their Nintendo Zone connection for passes.
I've been doing fairly decently with Streetpasses in general (though not spectacularly), when I decide to bring my 3DS to work with me. It helps that I take public transportation to and from work, and I work across the street from my city's main train station, where I often go for lunch. My commute home also roughly coincides with that of most of the city's school students, who have more time and energy to devote to gaming and are more likely to carry their 3DS' with them.
Sakurai did actually tell us that it was far easier to port over Uprising models than to make them from scratch. So that's not a lie.
There's no question there's some bias to it, but it's not just that. I actually agree that the shortcut was a logical move to make. Of course, it's not pleasing to everyone, but eh. I disagree with it as a move(the logic is good, but that doesn't mean good logic is always a good idea). That said, it's a fun mode and I do think it works out well anyway. Smash Wii U will probably give tons of love to other series.
Shadow?I never use powers. The AI is outmatched enough as it is already.
"It's liberating, realizing you never need to be competent." — UltimatepheerI never listened to those arguments, because they sounded similar to when people said that Sakurai obviously made Meta Knight overpowered on purpose. It was so absurd that I rejected that line of thinking right away. Then again, these arguments about Kid Icarus favoritism might have a bit more merit.
"What's out there? What's waiting for me?"
To be fair, it is the only one with the same art style/resolution, along with being the one Sakurai legally has the most direct access to.
I'm not even an Uprising fan.
"It's liberating, realizing you never need to be competent." — UltimatepheerAm i the only one who is kind of hesitant to dig into customization because i feel like I could get used to playing a character a certain way, then get stuck in scenarios (like online play) where you have to play straight-up and i've suddenly come off-kilter?
Although i suppose Smash Run at least would heavily benefit from the customization. I should get into it once i'm done running my new-main vetting process (9 days to go, i think)
Sakurai himself said that the reason there are so many Kid Icarus Uprising enemies in Smash Run is because it was easy to directly import the models in to Smash 3DS. That would also explain all the KIU items and trophies.
So yeah, it's not due to bias.

But how do you get them and use them? I don't remember seeing anything about them before...
