I just wish people didn't bash P:M as "ruining a perfectly good game", because in my eyes and a lot of other peoples' eyes, we have a right to be dissatisfied as customers if a sequel pales to the previous version, even if it's just our opinion.
Yes, it's primarily Melee 2, but that's what a lot of us wanted after Brawl failed to deliver and Sakurai made it perfectly clear what he thought of us "maniacs".

"It's liberating, realizing you never need to be competent." — UltimatepheerTIL that you can grab enemies in Smash Run.
Also, two things: Is it possible to kill a Mimicutie? I may be at a disadvantage since I've been playing as Mega Man and this thing just flies all over the place kicking me to death...
And are they nearly this bad in Kid Icarus Uprising? I'm about to start playing that game more often to take a sort of break from Smash...
1: Yes. They have high HP and very high offense, but they're possible to kill.
2: YES.
"It's liberating, realizing you never need to be competent." — UltimatepheerI'm willing to forgive them for allowing Taranto to make this joke, though.
With how Brawl hacking works, that's not really possible. Not without taking out a number of other resources and little touches. I've modded my setup to allow more stages, but at the cost of several things some people might not be comfortable with losing.
It's better than every single match being played on Battlefield, anyway.

"It's liberating, realizing you never need to be competent." — UltimatepheerI want that and a Tripping toggle as well. I don't mind hazards or tripping whatsoever. But I do like having the option to have 'em off. I've won more matches via tripping than without, so I find it has its uses.
Either way, at least Omega Mode(which the various stages in it are somewhat different) isn't bad as a variation of no hazards.
Shadow?
Because that's not how Brawl's file system works. In order to make "hazards on/off" versions, they'd have to make every stage take up two slots, halving the number of stages.
It's not how 4's file system works, either. Omega Battlefield is seen by the game as an entirely different stage than Battlefield, for example. As in, it has a separate ID number and takes up a separate slot.

Not without removing a sizable number of other resources to overwrite.
(Trivia: If you hack P:M to allow access to the SSE, Galleom and Duon will shout like Mewtwo and Roy because that's what their sound files overwrite
.)

"It's liberating, realizing you never need to be competent." — UltimatepheerYeah, Mimicuties were just as terrifying as that in KIU. I eventually memorized which chests contained them just to avoid fighting them ever again.
I'd kind of like to see the direct quote for that whole "maniac" thing. No offense to anyone, but I've grown weary of playing the "what did he really say/mean?" game.

I have a message from another time...Gah, I shouldn't have watched that video while drinking...
And if Mimicuties really are as bad in Uprising as they are in Smash Run, then I'll probably need to do the same thing.
I'm assuming the giant green skull that plays creepy NES music and can one-shot you can't be killed?

A translation of the Famitsu column in question.
Say what you will about the ambiguous meaning of the word, but I think the connotation is pretty clear.

"It's liberating, realizing you never need to be competent." — UltimatepheerSeems to me he considers us too dedicated, and it doesn't feel that healthy due to the arguments.
I don't see anything bad with why he made Brawl less competitive. There's a ton of fights and elitism from both ends of the player spectrum during Melee. I honestly think he made the right decision. I don't agree with how he executed it, though. I don't think Tripping worked too well, but a toggle to turn it off would've been fine. The techs removed was no big deal. Making it harder to OTK was something I felt was annoying, but it did help Lucario's metagame be, well, possible. The way the game works balance-wise definitely is going to be bad due to its design, but it was still extremely fun.
I like how he went with Smash 4. He took the best of all worlds to a degree, and that works for me. I think the lack of the SSE might've freed up more time for balance-related stuff. But otherwise, the product was extremely solid and packed full of really cool content. I may like a lot of other games better, but I don't regret buying it in any way possible~

Shadow? My problem with Brawl was: The competitive depth of Melee didn't make it any less fun for casual play, did it? It was compatible with any playstyle for anyone to be able to have fun with, while Brawl was exclusively for people that like party games.
That said, I do like the way he did Smash 4, though. Melee is East, Brawl is West, Sm4sh is Bacon and 64 is Necktie.

Brawl- sounds more my thing as does Balanced Brawl. Keep things balanced and not mutilate everybody for the sake of "NOT BRAWL LAWL"
Are explosions science?
