Christ they have a two foot stick up their arse about Brawl. I get they didn't like Brawl but it is getting stupid. I mean if you're gonna let Ganondorf keep his Flame Choke, why turn Falco BACK into a clone? Even Capcom made the original Ryu and Ken play more differently! Poor Falco.
I'd have flat out changed Falco's moves entirely, make him more like Mv C 3 Dante without swords.
Are explosions science?
Falco had very different move properties from Fox despite looking the same, and his playstyle was completely altered in Brawl, alienating people who were used to him. I don't like it either, but I at least understand it.
What I have a problem with is how they handled Lucario; they gave him random out-of-place Street Fighter moves for no reason.

Did you not read that they removed it?

Pittoo doesn't even have different attack properties. Falco actually had a different playstyle from his source. I don't like the aesthetics either, but they're not comparable.
And it's an Old Shame, I'm pretty sure.

"It's liberating, realizing you never need to be competent." — UltimatepheerFact: Canon Ganondorf is one of the top potential candidates for next character to add, giving his existing moveset to Black Shadow so the actually many people who like his playstyle don't feel left out.
...whoops. *goes to edit posts*

"It's liberating, realizing you never need to be competent." — UltimatepheerHe's not talking about Ganon, he's talking about Pittoo.
"It's liberating, realizing you never need to be competent." — UltimatepheerI'm just waiting for the day Project M uses the clone engine to make a legitimately new character rather than just porting Melee characters over. Roy and Mewtwo are fun and all but I'd like to see some "new" faces for lack of a better word.
If Lyn ends up being one then I will main her, no questions asked.

Well, they are holding votes. Lyn is one of the candidates.

"It's liberating, realizing you never need to be competent." — UltimatepheerI'd love it if a mod or future Smash used Ganon as inspired by Hyrule Warriors. It wouldn't even be much of a switch, as Mulletdorf does very "rargh I punch you!" stuff, like the combo where he makes a giant energy ball and punches it into fragments. Or the Ganon Shadow Swipe.
I have a message from another time...No, evidently what we need is Ridley. It's always Ridley.

You're free to nominate anyone. The current ones listed as candidates are just the most likely.
I've seen people vote for the Condor when someone mentioned offhand as a joke that the Ice Climbers need to be avenged.
Also in the running, and the one with the most votes right now.

"It's liberating, realizing you never need to be competent." — Ultimatepheer...I have mixed feelings upon hearing this.

Yeah, his aura mechanic is gone, but I think that was cut for the reason that it doesn't work with how the mechanics make it really hard to survive at high percents more than anything. I think the magic series came as a byproduct of trying to find a gimmick to replace it.

It's more that the Aura Mechanic itself is so intertwined with Lucario's character, that trying a different metagame with him is next to impossible. A similar issue with Pokemon Trainer. Because of his core design, you can barely main any of the 3 Pokemon at all. This is just a bad design issue that limits their metagame.
I don't have a real problem with it, but it's a pretty good point. I don't think making him like Ryu was a good idea. Mario already does that well enough in Melee.

In theory, it may be an attempt to make Brawl more competitively viable, but in practice it really does feel like an attempt to turn Brawl into Melee. At least in my opinion.
Also...
Cripes.
