I kinda wish more elements from the Prime trilogy made it into Samus' character design, but on the other hand, Samus' Power Suit design was one of the few things Other M did decently.
I really appreciate changing the stupid wedge heels on the Zero Suit into rocket boots, too.
Cherche's (lack of) armor is easily the most egregious case in the game, but on the other hand, she's basically a maid on a dragon armed with an axe, so!

I sure said that!... Yeah, no, that armour is stupid. There's literally no reason for the window on her back and thighs.
I think you're failing to realize that I can both like a character, and think the outfit the creators put them in is real dumb.
Hers is one of the worst. But other characters have similar problems in smaller doses.

The wedge heels she got in Other M? Because I've seen plenty of complaints about those.
EDIT: Also, what Mukora said.
Disliking aspects of a character's design and various choices writers and artists made regarding a character is not hating that character.
I mean, fictional characters aren't real people. They don't have feelings. Or souls.

i often see scantily armored ladies in games and think "i would have no problem had they just not been wearing armor at all"
cherche is one of them.
i like her design, hell i like the backwindow. but the armor is overall pretty pointless and not that great looking either.
boob plate inspires the same reaction, incidentally.

I dunno, looking at Cordelia
◊, she does leave some skin exposed, but it's hardly something I would complain about and hey, I think she looks pretty awesome like that. Though breast plates always have been rather silly for me.
Still, this discussion probably should go into the Fire Emblem thread considering we're discussing characters that aren't even in Smash in the first place.
WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY ABOUT MY WAIFU?!
But yeah, I don't know whether Cherche is a good or bad character because I haven't played the game, but design-wise she's undeniably pretty silly.
Cripes. That one's bad too.

"I like girls, but now, it's about justice."the knight and cavalier armor often makes me just go "what?" but then i had to admit, at least they try to make use of armor.
the cavaliers protect themselves from decapitation (...not a problem horsemen usually face, i dont think) at the expense of wearing a toilet bowl; at that point i just have to give them props for being that dedicated to their life.
and then knights look like their armor is so heavy and impractical they wouldnt be able to move at all, and might even be crushed by their armor.
but fuck, thats probably as best you can armor yourself without wearing a helmet too.
Cherche's a pretty cool character and good powerhouse for the first gen units.
But yeah, the armor designs are the worst they've ever been in Awakening. Pretty much every game prior had armor that was both awesome and practical (or at least practical).

Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!though cherche's character kinda revolves around her dragon minerva.
eh, minerva is cool tho.
seriously tho, if someone is wearing no armor into war im just like "fine, fine. their choice" but the moment they put a tiny little bit of armor on i get kinda annoyed if they proceed to half-ass it. putting armor on is basically the statement of "im afraid for my life, so im going to protect myself" and then these slackers come along covering as little as is possible.
it still seems like the best choice to put what little armor you can wear as a peg rider, on your hands and feet. your feet are the lower available target for melee weapons and your hands are going to get even closer when you fly down to spear a poor unfortunate soul.
that boobplate the peg riders have just baffles me. it doesnt really serve a purpose, even if boobplate ever was practical (which is is not and will never be)

Well, there are times when you want light armor but you don't want to wear full plate mail because that both greatly slows you down and also hinders your movement. For example, take Ephraim's
◊ original design.
EDIT: Damn, this thread moves fast.

I don't know, those battles are full of pointy objects that could easily burst a boob.

"I like girls, but now, it's about justice."

That armor will perfectly protect that young lady.
Yup, no way she's going to have any problems under that big, sturdy armor.
