Doesn't Zelda fight in a dress in Hyrule Warriors though?
It's more of a battle-dress though. I think we have a trope for it, but I can't seem to find it (it's basically a female character whose armor consists of armor and a gown, like Saber from the Fate series). EDIT: [nja]ed on the last page.

@unnoun: IIRC, Peach somehow absorbed the abilities of the Scepter when it was used on her, which is why she was able to do the things she could do in that game.

Speaking of SMB 2, I like that they put in the item weeds. They're unique — a container you have to use on the spot.

It's not like the Mario games are exactly supposed to be hardcore depictions of gritty combat. All the fighting is literally just jumping on things' heads. A bit of silliness is allowed.

chun-li's most iconic dress is her cheongsam with tights iirc.

lyns is basically a longer version of that, without tights. the tights are a minor thing; basically the akin to a choice a schoolgirl makes about whether she's going to wear tights or not.

im think its fairly reasonable to consider lyn's dress to be her casual clothes, and what she wore while practicing swordplay, rather than anything like a war-outfit designed to keep her alive.

Well. At least Rosalina, Peach, and Zelda have the excuse of being prim and proper princesses, and also that their iconic appearance features a dress. With Lyn it makes less sense, because she's supposed to be a warrior.

...Rosalina is a princess?
She's not- It's a common mistake.

To be fair, she's got a princess-y design, with the crown and all.

Just like how Nintendo's incarnation of the White Mage isn't a princess even though she dresses like one.tongue

...Or maybe she (the White Mage) is... I wonder...

The Mario wiki also thinks there's a point in establishing a "Mario canon"

[up][up][up]Wikis can get things wrong, especially fandom wikis, where the line between fanon and canon are blurred to some.

[up]And yeah, there's that.

Rosalina technically isn't a princess, but she's grouped with Peach and Daisy so strongly that she might as well be one. I don't consider her one, but Nintendo would probably add her to a hypothetical Nintendo Princess line of dolls or something.

Dunno. As far as fan wikis go, I think the Mario Wiki is quite good.

Besides, princess or not, that doesn't matter, because queens wear dresses too tongue.
