I prefer items on.
Without seems much less interesting and it's also much less fair.
I mean, it's not like I think people who play without items are below me or anything. You can play without items if you want (or "For Glory", as they call it now), but I just don't really get it.
"I like girls, but now, it's about justice."I suppose I should clarify: when playing with friends I'm totally fine with just going on random stages and using items, that's all fine and dandy. But when I want a serious and balanced (To some extent, at least as much as Smash will allow) match, I play with no items and only on certain stages. Items add a bit too much randomness to really develop a fair game.
I'm the guy who knows how to make games but doesn't. 3DS FC: 2878-9776-7579For the record, there are certain items that can enhance a skill-centered Smash experience. Beam Sword, Super Scope, and Star Rod are some surprisingly good items that do make it more fun without feeling cheap. If someone has Gustbellows on though, you can leave me out of it. Some items enhance skill-centered play, others don't. Most items are either annoying, cheap, or skew the match in favor of someone based on luck.

What is a fandom? A miserable little pile of flame wars! 3DS FC: 0387-9377-7408 PSN ID: Raven King SageI the demo, I once threw a Smart Bomb at Mario who dodged it. It was a dud so he immediately picked it up, threw it back at me, and it went off.
Fucking dud Smart Bombs.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!Wasn't the original plan to hold the tourney about a week or two after release so that way everyone could unlock the character they wanted to use and then get used to them?

I can finally do Back-Airs while facing forward.

Seriously now, I most likely won't participate on the tournament ('cause I'm getting the Wii U version, most likely), but if I did, I'd prefer items.
I just think itemless Smash is kind of killing the point.
