Because what other reasonable interpretation is there?

What is a fandom? A miserable little pile of flame wars! 3DS FC: 0387-9377-7408 PSN ID: Raven King SageI've already said my piece on Dark Pit. Making him an ascended alt in the same way as Lucina makes the most sense.

Both of which are pretty much a given.
But he is a literal clone of Pit just the same. He has enough difference as a character to warrant a bonus appearance in Smash, but I think that giving him an entirely new moveset is pointless. Being the literal clone that he is, he already has the exact same physics and body frame.

Watch the spoilers, mkay?
A fair point, but I remember Pittoo's usual weapon of choice (in nearly every boss fight involving him) being the Silver Bow. Both he and Pit use bows as their primary weapons, and as if to hammer the point further, the Silver Bow is stated to be a prototype of the Palutena Bow.
EDIT: Not you, it was my fellow Ridley cultist above you. I got Greninja'd...

Uprising has a bunch of weapon types that lend themselves to many more potential movesets than Pit's using. Even though Dark Pit's a physical reflection who could fight the same as Pit at any given time, he could also be sporting, say, a massive heavy Club, or a pair of Claws.
Oh, and the Silver bow's a bit different. It fires massive arrows instead of barrages that actually deal more damage close up.
Of course, thu could give him his dark version of the First Blade, or any of his chapter 6 weapons.

I have a message from another time...
*8: That depends on the thing being interpreted. A lot of times when I hear stuff like that it could also very well be jumping to conclusions, like the shadow thing.
In general, though, while Sakurai does troll a lot, a great deal of the Trolling Creator heat he gets is less from stuff he actually does and more from people interpreting regular things he does as trolling when they likely aren't. In particular, he gets a lot of "I want him to do X, and he's not doing it. Since he's still being jovial while not doing this pivotal thing I think he should do, he's clearly only not doing it to stick it to me - ergo he's a trolling creator who enjoys messing with 'his fans'" heat - which actually happens quite a bit when it comes to video games in general.

I don't think I'd like Dark Pit in Smash no matter what. Whether he's a clone or a unique fighter, I'd still think there's tons of far more interesting and more deserving choices than a palette swap of an existing fighter, from a series with 3 games.

Welcome to th:|

Personally, I prefer the air think that they would have said something if he wasn't playable. There's just been a lot of Ridley teasing. You know how Sakurai is.
Page-Topper. Why.
