I don't see any difference really. Both use the styles of an established character, but modify them for the better, and some people can't deal.
Also, I was under the impression Dr. Mario was one of the more well liked clones. Better than, say, Ganonfalcon or Pichu.

Ah, sorry. I'll shut up.

Don't PM me. We don't like being PMed.Er, Lucina has different attributes. That's the only way she can be a clone. She may be more cloney, though. I want to see her moveset before making any statements around it.
And I loved Dr. Mario, actually. I'm stoked he's back.
YMMV, but Dr. Mario's most notable thing is that he's higher tier than Mario. Ganonfalcon(in Melee) was liked for being a really good character, and Pichu is very mixed. Some find him really fun, others hate him. All 3 are pretty mixed in the end.

Shadow?
*headdesk*
We already know her moveset. Sakurai confirmed that her moves and her physical attributes, except for that one hitbox and a very, very slight height difference, are identical to Marth's in that Famitsu interview.
Wasted. Potential. I wouldn't be complaining if she had the possibility of different speed or jump height or something, but that's already been deconfirmed.

Fair enough, fair enough. I admit, I don't have a wide scope on these kinds of things.
Let me guess, your dad also works at Nintendo and Sakurai told him personally that Lucina is completely identical other than that one thing, and Sakurai wasn't just making a point (tee hee) in the Miiverse post?
I just wanted to make the "point" pun.

Don't PM me. We don't like being PMed.At the time, yes. He could also pull a "change them up a bit more" as well. The fact she was originally an alt means something could change.
This is why I think waiting for the game to come out is better since he constantly changes his mind these days. If she's nothing more than a clone on Pichu levels, so be it. If she's more, so be it. This is the same reason I don't consider everything in a demo final(because it's subject to change).
Understandable. I tend to look at a lot of places to see the various opinions.

Shadow?A question occurs to me:
Why were Riki and Dunban chosen for Shulk's final smash?
Don't get me wrong, I love both of them, and they form a solid core of my favorite teams in the game (alongside Melia, Seven, and occasionally Shulk). That said, Riki isn't exactly the companion with the greatest connection to Shulk himself, and his unique moves don't really matter in a cutscene Final Smash (and are used in his assist trophy anyway).
I guess I'm just kind of surprised. If you'd asked me who I thought they'd put in a Chain Attack final smash, I'd have said Reyn, and possibly Seven, if Seven weren't a walking spoiler on par with Porky. Dunban works in place of Seven, though.
I have a message from another time...And people also neglect to mention one thing about this game: Customization exists. Pretty much a built-in decloner right there in the game.
Vote. .#Bayonetta 4 Smash
x4/5: My worry is that said interview was in a print magazine, and he might not back down on his word after that.
But regardless, I'm getting way too worked up about this. I need to stop using this thread as a stress outlet.

Exactly. I don't use things that will make me feel like I'm either cheating or wasting practice.
...which is why I'm so desperately hoping that Mii Fighters are somehow not banned.

"It's liberating, realizing you never need to be competent." — UltimatepheerNot to mention Riki/Dunban/Shulk being a bit broken, because
- You fill the Party Gauge very quickly
- And thus can use Chain Attacks to inflict a ton of debuffs...
- Which leads into Riki using Say Sorry! to finish foes off.
Doubt that had anything to do with their choice, but it's still nice to note.

It's possible that they knew. I mean, Palutena's Final Smash is based on a common KIU online multiplayer combo...
Heh. Reminds me of how, in Dissidia Final Fantasy, Bartz's super move was simply him using the most infamous game-breaking job combo.
I have a message from another time...I don't get why Lucina is meant to be weaker than Marth when we don't know any of their attack stats. Marth would only be guaranteed to be stronger in competitive play if he always lands perfect hits, which is never going to happen when you have a professional opponent who knows that you want to hit them with your sword tip and is actively working to prevent it. So it's somewhat easier to get in your hits correctly as Marth than it was in Brawl, then you just up Lucina's damage to compensate. I can see Lucina becoming more flexible than Marth since you won't be as dependent on getting your attacks at a specific moment and can thus focus your attention more on other things. Of course, even if all the tournament champions get perfect hits with Marth every time that doesn't actually matter, because they're less than one percent of the player base. The vast majority won't be nearly as reliable with Marth's strikes and thus Lucina will be a much more valid choice for them.

@55974: Who didn't?
At least he had different attributes and his moves had different properties than Mario's, though. Doc's actually less of a clone than her.
