That's a placeholder date. I'm almost positive it will come out in mid-November I just want them to finally confirm it. If it doesn't come out then Nintendo will miss Black Friday which is the start of the Christmas shopping season. They can't afford to do that.

Eh, they missed it with Brawl, too. But then again, they actually had customers when Brawl came out.
"It's liberating, realizing you never need to be competent." — UltimatepheerSmash isn't going to sell record amounts of Wii Us. Even Nintendo knows this. After MK 8 was released they said that the game sold really great but they sold way less new consoles than they were counting on. Everyone who wants the games already has one according to them. This is both good and bad.
Mario Kart Wii outsold Brawl 3:1 I believe. Mario Kart is basically Nintendo's biggest console game these days, and on handhelds only Pokemon surpasses it. That being said, I think Melee outsold Double Dash just barely, and seeing how the Wii U can be compared more to the Gamecube than the Wii, I think it will come rather close. Smash will have a bigger immediate effect due to releasing during the holidays, but Mario Kart will probably sell more over time.
Of course one of the reasons Mario Kart couldn't push the Wii U as much as Nintendo wanted was because there was nothing coming out after MK. Literally nothing noteworthy until Hyrule Warriors. Smash should be able to keep up momentum if Nintendo can actually get some games out by February.
On one hand, Smash does have the benefit of not having the game-skippingly-disappointing-even-to-a-casual-player roster of Mario Kart 8. I mean, yeah, it has Weak MarthLucina and Dark Pit, but those aren't the only new characters, and the target audience isn't old enough to know about complications such as rep distribution. On the other hand, though, the fanbase is fragmented so badly that even most Smash fans won't be buying it.
are you still fucking seriously ragging on lucina?
get over it already. you've already said she would be fine if she was just an alt so your problem is literally just that she has a place on the roster screen, which is fucking petty.
well shit, there goes my apathy award. i hope you're happy.

My problem is that there's literally no reason to choose her over the stronger Marth. If she had even one different move, it would be different.
I can't walk three steps without someone saying "Brawl 2.0" or bashing the Wii U as a console.

"It's liberating, realizing you never need to be competent." — UltimatepheerThe impression I got was that Lucina was more Strong Marth actually.
The whole conversation about her being "Marth but weaker" confused me greatly, as Sakurai's comments implied that she was Marth, but stronger since her strength isn't focused on just the tip, but through the whole blade. In other words, you need to have Marth hit the enemy at a specfic part of his blade to be as strong as Lucina's is with any part of hers.
Maybe I am missing something.

Don't PM me. We don't like being PMed.How do we know Lucina isn't the old Fragile Speedster Marth?
She may be weaker or stronger. We don't have the game yet to tell. Could we please wait before we label her something she might not be?
That's my theory as is. With many saying Marth plays differently, well... this would make sense to avoid alienating the fanbase.

Shadow?@55966: You really are missing something. The mechanics have changed to where it's much easier to consistently hit with that one part of Marth's sword, making Lucina's evenly-spaced hitboxes a handicap rather than a different playstyle. She's nothing but wasted potential, and I find it difficult to see any justification in her design choices.

"It's liberating, realizing you never need to be competent." — UltimatepheerSo...Lucina is still Marth but better, but Marth isn't that handicapped by this as he would be if this was, say, Brawl.
Kay.
I bet you really hated Dr. Mario too.

Don't PM me. We don't like being PMed.Maybe you could wait to actually play as her before saying that? You don't exactly know how the playstyles will be at all.
Really, just be patient, man. Maybe you won't like playing as her in the long run. And that's fine, but you don't have any actual experience to judge appropriately.
Don't bait people, please. :/
