Biggest news for me is that the soundtrack can be played in sleep mode. No more having to dig up youtube versions or sketchy download sources for me! (Until the Wii U version comes out, shit.)

I like how one for one of the composers on there, his two most notable works are on "Super Smash Bros. Brawl", and..."Digital Pinball: Last Gladiators".

If that was the case, the Kingdom Hearts composer would also be suspect.

At least that one has an excuse via the Mario & Luigi games. Xehanort confirmed to be Ganondorf'd by Fawful. "I have crossover!"

Those are just lists of what the Composers have done before. Actual songs could help hint towards characters, though.

But the fact we got an Ubisoft trophy without a playable character means that we can easily get 3rd party content regardless of who's playable. I don't mean just general Bandai-Namco/Sega/Capcom stuff, either.

I just realized that it says "Musicians of Nintendo 3DS Version" above the list of composers. So presumably there are even more for the Wii U version.

I'll admit my heart stopped when I saw Xenoblade under the list of music before realizing it was musicians. Still, nice update.

  • ACE
  • Ryo Nagamatsu
  • Mahito Yokota

These are the newly added composers I'm most excited about.

I didn't like Xenoblade as much as most people, but with stuff like Gaur Plains and Snowy Valak Mountain ~ Night, music is one thing it definitely nailed. Ryo Nagamatsu has already shown he can do great Nintendo remixes in Nintendo Land, and his work on A Link Between Worlds and Super Mario Galaxy 2 was also great. Mahito Yokota is the main reason recent 3D Mario titles like Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario 3D World have had great soundtracks, but he also composed for the underrated Donkey Kong Jungle Beat.

Speaking of Jungle Beat, it is a shame the only major representation it got and probably will ever get is a really shitty, unoriginal stage. Maybe Yokota will make some remixes of its music for the new Smash Bros.

Jungle Beat at least got Battle for Storm Hill in Brawl- That's more than pretty much every non-Kart Mario spinoff, for example, for however much that's worth.

I sure said that!

Partners in Time got a remix, while Battle for Storm Hill was ripped directly from the game.

Speaking of Mario RP Gs, I'm glad to be reminded that the Paper Mario stage will force the composers to use some stuff from Mario RP Gs, even if it's just 2 at minimum.

I'm not saying it didn't take work, but the Gritzy Desert theme was more cleaned up/updated than remixed. Admittedly, that still took more effort than ripping Storm Hill from Jungle Beat, but hey.

I sure said that!

In which you could fit Little Mac into Mega Man's head. Also, the timing of the Wii U version is claimed to be due to debugging.

Also, the theme for Multi-Man Smash is composed by Yoshihito Yano. That name sounds familiar... I like his work.

I love how you can play music from the 3DS version while in sleepmode. They also seem to be going all out for the soundtrack this time so all the more hype.

They're the biggest badasses in the game.

I've had so much more trouble fighting a Mimicutie than an enraged Clobbler or Clubberskull, the two other Elite Mooks of the main enemy forces in the game.

yeah they wreck my shit up so often.

im usually spending most of each level with my health down far too low for comfort, usually i get a some food items to heal me nearly to full health and then bam these things show up and sucker kick me across the room and im back in the red by the time i finish them off.

OTL

just once, id like to reach a boss room with a reasonable amount of health before drinking the health potion. i cant blame this incompetance on being left handed anymore. so im blaming it on mimicuties and pillbugs.

That's Yuzo Koshiro of Streets Of Rage and Etrian Odyssey fame's remix. I think it's the same as the one used in the Greninja and Charizard trailer, too.
