-Looks at Toad fans-
I'm not sure he cares enough. I want him playable, but I can't discount the idea of him being a stage hazard as teased. Both is possible(well, he wouldn't be a stage hazard in the 3DS version). And if that isn't the true final roster, he may be among the secret unlockables. Also, something notable; Weren't the screen with the ERSB not showing the full roster in itself? That one could have Ridley on it, just not in view of us. I'll note again that the real leak of the Brawl roster didn't have Wolf unlocked, so...
Shadow?I'll second Ridley trolling as my favorite trolling, if only because it's impossible to see what direction he's trolling with it. Either Ridley is a stage boss and Sakurai's trolling by not explicitly stating that, or he's playable and Sakurai's trolling by abusing Exact Words, and there's no way we can know which is the case until he says something explicit (or the game comes out, whichever comes first).
It is Schrodinger's Troll.
"We're home, Chewie."I believe it. Sakurai has proven to be that ridiculous at times. The fact he has yet to properly show Mr. Game & Watch as back(in fact, these leaks are the only thing that shows he's on the roster right now at best) makes no logical sense. Outside of him not revealing him till after the 3DS release. Ridley makes sense to tease, but it easily gets fans hyped and riled. Mr. Game & Watch does not.
Guy loves to troll, no reason he couldn't pull a fast one on us.
Shadow?I explained it already; It stops people from trying to assume stuff. "He hasn't been shown, must be playable. He was shown in the context of a stage hazard, he's confirmed as a stage hazard!"
We know Sakurai's unpredictable. Almost nothing is assumable with him. I think it's good he throws people for a loop.
I want Ridley playable too, but I also like the idea of putting assumers away as well. Both are appealable to me at this point and time.
The idea of him trolling like that is severely plausible, which is also sad in a way.
Shadow?@Bloated: there is a roster limit. Its whatever they designed it to be and its as flexible as the designers want to have it. But no matter what it is or even if they don't define it, time spent making a character is time not spent making another. They have deadlines to make, it isn't limitless even if they don't decide on one.
Too bad once its in the game the time spent would have to be wasted to get rid of an existing roster member.
It's okay Ridley fans. It's possible that he's still playable even with the recent leak, he's just not unlocked in that version.
Someone said that Shulk, Bowser Jr and Duck Hunt Dog would be playable, which is supported by the leak. He also mentions Dixie, Chorus Men, Mewtwo and, of course, Ridley himself. Unfortunately the thread cannot be viewed anymore, but look at the date the pastebin was made. It was made way before this leak came out.

Pretty much. I can understand the backlash of whatever he does with Ridley(there's enough who hate the idea of him playable that he loses no matter what he does).

I'm not sure when Sakurai ever talked about some kind of limit. The only limit he has spoken about is time issues. Or technical issues at best. He has made it clear that just making a huge roster alone is silly, but he didn't think cutting people is the easiest way to go. But new blood is needed too. Also, Lucina was a late addition. How would removing her help? That's not going to give time for anything beyond a very quick clone like she is. Which makes their removal useless beyond making the roster tinier with zero new additions in place of them.

Shadow?Correct me if I'm wrong, but does Sakurai and his team really go through every character one by one until they hit the deadline where they can't add anymore? Because that's usually what seems to be implied whenever "roster slots" and "time" come up, but I can't help but wonder if the process isn't so.....rigid.
"But no matter what it is or even if they don't define it, time spent making a character is time not spent making another. They have deadlines to make, it isn't limitless even if they don't decide on one."
That is reaaally misleading. They have limited resources, yes, and time spent on one thing is time not spent on another.
But there is no roster limit. EVERYTHING takes resources that could be spent elsewhere. Stages, features, items.
And most importantly, not all characters take the same resources to make, not by a longshot. Which it is absolutely freaking ridiculous when someone says a clone is a "waste of a roster slot".

The Ridley trolling is more or less my favorite. If only because at this point, I don't care if he's playable anymore. I'd actually love it if he was an Assist Trophy to screw with everyone.
It would also do something else; Force people to realize that implications are meaningless and odd timing on videos need to be taken with a grain of salt.
To be honest, him being a stage hazard would not be weird. Nor would him being playable. Who knows.
