UI is short for "User Interface".
The menus and such, basically. Why would Smash go for such a bland character/stage select screen but make a blocky, colorful and eye-catching set of options on the main menu?
There's not even proper borders around each option, so everything just bleeds together.
I sure said that!I think it stands for User Interface...
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.A lot of the demo was shown to bleed together.
The 3DS version has a very small screen. It's not unlikely that it just has a bit lower quality. All of that matches up with the demo as well. We just saw it in action instead of screens. Screens often look worse with these things. Kind of like how Zero Suit Samus looks worse with her odd movements on a screen than in gameplay.(like her impossible positions. Well, maybe not for her, but in general)
Shadow? It's a single image. A blurry one, at that.
It's not a matter of whether it's fake or not, it's not really much evidence of anything.
Yeah, you bring up people trying to disprove real pics? Yeah, that happens. But be real here, how often is a single crappy-quality photo leak actually real? Not too often.
It's not a matter of "Can you disprove this?", or "Is it believable"?. It's one crappy image, with no other sources. You just don't take that as proof of anything.
...There's over 5 images, actually. The roster slot, some of the "you've selected this character" bit(more than one if I remember correctly). The stage selection screen. The only non-image was a text list of the DLC setup. Gah, I'll see if I can find the full list of each picture.
The two key pieces are two leaked images(Tomodatchi Life stage room) and Fox's portrait shot. What makes them particularly notable? They did not ever exist anywhere till after the Famitsu article and the leak. The only explanation is somebody got it early or it's real. We know the demo is not the best quality, and review DVD's aren't going to be really final images at all, since what matters is the overall gameplay to determine the rating, not the quality of the User Interface. The demo itself even froze up often, so obviously it had issues. Making the game a bit lower quality makes these issues weaker as you can make the game go faster with worse quality.
The so-called images that could've been shopped have to be heavily drawn, since absolutely zero beyond a few returning characters portraits could be from a previous game like Brawl. And placeholder images for a non-final copy(especially for a roster screen that is not guaranteed to be the final version anyway) is highly believable at this point. The ERSB does not really get final copies, especially of the User Interface, which is not relevant to their goal. Just the gameplay in itself. I mean, their job is to rate the gameplay to determine how appropriate it is. Why would the User interface be relevant at all? That doesn't make much sense.

Shadow?Development is at the last step: bug testing. Everything we see in screenshots or get talked about in interviews is the final look of the thing from now on. The UI is already done(hell, its one of the first things that is usually done since it isn't as complex as the fighting portion of it to bug test). This late in development nothing new is added since it could screw up everything you've already done(look at Bioware having to put a code for DLC in each new copy of DAO due to not having time to add it to the game before bug testing).

Inappropriate poses, I guess. And technically, that's gameplay, to be fair. Everything you do is. Showing the full match includes every screen. I'm not sure what their rules are for fighting games and what must be shown. But seeing as how every character has a pose on the CSS, and their costumes, seeing those is probably necessary.
There. That's the full list of every image and text bit.
◊ There are definitely more than one image. Likewise, that's what I find really odd too. The game hasn't gone gold, and they're supposed to get a DVD copy. It's possible they were given the final version(gamplay-wise) to review all the key stuff. Sakurai just didn't care about making the Roster screen top-notch when it came to the more important ratings and time limits. IMO, I think the final UI will be better. But I could be wrong on that particular front too. The 3DS having a little eh quality shouldn't be discounted at this point.
That too. The UI was officially bad. If it stays that way... can we be that seriously surprised? Either the final copy will have some slight improvements or it'll be meh.

Shadow? Why do you guys keep calling all of these things leaks?
They aren't leaks, they're rumors.
Oh, and something that came to mind. It's possible that some of the images are faked.
The only two that are likely real are the Stage Select Screen(because it shows a new image of the Tomodatchi Life stage that got released in the Famitsu article after the leak) and the Character Select Screen(which has an exact version of Fox's portrait, also released in Famitsu. This also leans towards it being the final set of roster images).
The one that has ERSB 0000 thing could be faked. I'm not discounting that. The actual roster and stages are about the only ones that are hard to debunk due to perfect match-ups.
Shadow?Well, would you look at that.
◊
It even has the same weird eye.
"Oh great! Let's pile up all the useless cats and hope a tree falls on them!"
Same designer. Makes sense. XD
I can't wait to do a Nurse Peach and Dr. Mario team again. Although I really hope Peach has a Daisy alt instead of the lame Palette Swap. There's too many alts to now care about that. Although I don't know if alts require extra programming beyond creating the model. You know, model collisions and all.

I'm not saying you do too. I just don't see why anyone does. I guess people just want there to be a leak?
So again, how about we consider some of our favorite instances of Sakurai trolling?

Well, I found out about this in a Leaks group on Smashboards. So I find the term leak more appropriate.
Also, it being presented as one makes sense to call it as one. If it's fake, a rumor would be far more appropriate.
That, and you're kind of going a bit far with pointless semantics now, man. It really really doesn't matter. Call it what you want. It's the same thing in the end.
Shadow?
