See, I don't believe the "leak" primarily because of the Duck Hunt duo, since they wouldn't be called just "Duck Hunt". It'd be "Duck Hunt Duo" or "Duck & Dog" or, even if you were going by my earlier joke of the dog being named "Hunt", it would be "Duck & Hunt". Not just the name of the game. (Also I do not believe for a minute that a newcomer character duo would have priority over the veteran Ice Climbers.)
a.k.a. Cly, that one girl who doesn't post here much anymore Something something YI = SMW 2 = SMB 5.Dr. Mario was always different gameplay-wise. He never had a chance to be an alt. That's honestly what makes it a very believable roster. Him being an alt is actually a point against rosters ultimately. Sakurai made that clear before that he made Dr. Mario a clone because he views them as separate gameplay characters. Lucina was added later. Dr. Mario very likely was too. An alt doesn't cut it with someone like him, since the Megavitamins were not one of Mario's Custom specials.
Honestly, I either expect him to not be playable as is(and of course not an alt), or he'll be playable. There's no middle ground with a different functioning character.
The only real alts I expect are Ms. Pac-Man, Blood Falcon(more differentiated), and Daisy(more differentiated). I'm not sure if the last two will be better differentiated, though. I think Galacta Knight has a fair chance as an alt, however. Does he have a different shape from Meta Knight in his model/sprite? If not, no point in making him anything but an alt.
That duo is likely to be closer to Rosalina & Luma or Olimar & Pikmin. Ice Climbers still have not been shown, so them not being able to be playable due to programming problems is a possibility. Duck Hunt is an odd name, but there is no official name for the Dog or the Ducks. Calling it by the name of the game is reasonable enough, and being both characters, it kind of works. Ice Climber is the Japanese name of the Ice Climbers too. Despite being two characters. There's enough evidence to show that name is not impossible. We'd need a retro replacement, and somebody from a well known old game is not hard to believe anyway. Plus, IC's are apparently supposed to be dlc, so the issue is solved. Once they fix them properly. Likewise, if they're giving trouble, concentrating on easier-to-implement characters instead of them is a very smart move.

Shadow?![]()
Neither of those are my point. It would be backsliding, specifically, in Dr. Mario's case because he was a character who was already removed by the devs for being a clone. This makes his return unique after Sakurai's own comments, more so than a regular clone character who already has returned coming back a third time (including Young Link in that, but even if you don't it's still just consistency, especially given how popular Toon Link was) or a character initially designed as an alternate costume that they spontaneously opted to make their own character during development.
That's not my point. I never said he shouldn't return.

We don't know why he was removed by the developers at all(never stated).
Being a clone is possible, but then there's Mewtwo. He was more likely low priority over the newer and more interesting guys.
And backsliding? Sakurai liked Dr. Mario in the first place. He has extra time for a few extra characters, but not enough to properly finish Lucas/Wolf/Ice Climbers/Snake. Dr. Mario was actually a very good clone(to the point of currently being rated higher than Mario on the tier list) and people did like him too, notably. I'm not seeing the issue. Sakurai has a blatant bias with these things. Just like Dark Pit being playable(if the leak is real, of course). He loves the hell out of Uprising, which has more content than most others single games(only other one could be argued is Pokemon Gen 1, and only because you can get all 151 Pokemon and Poke Balls in any single game. There were no other games to show off during 64 anyway)
No it isn't. Sakurai has yet to state he was able to fix the Ice Climbers. And being unlockable is always possible. Patterns aren't good proof honestly.

Ah, thanks. So that would require a model difference at best. Maybe it could be an alt, but if they're different enough, an Assist Trophy/Stage Hazard works too.

Shadow?I vaguely remember something about Dr. Mario only being in Melee so Sakurai could use the Dr. Mario music and was too visually different to be made a costume. Don't remember what happened to that.
One of the big issues I have with the leak roster is Lucina, Dark Pit, and Dr. Mario being tucked all the way in the corner away from their respective franchises. It only makes sense from a fan splitting the clones off.

But in the latter case, you could assume that it's just referring to the single Ice Climber that you actually control. Nobody is a "Duck Hunt".
Welcome to th:|![]()
Nope, it's the name of the game itself. Assumptions don't mean much, though. Also, not everybody knows you only truly control one Ice Climber anyway. It's a bit of a stretch. The English version makes it clear you have two, but the Japanese version is pretty much identical to the actual game name.
I actually think naming it after the game is better than using unofficial names.
Naming schemes really don't matter with Sakurai. He's a strange man at times. I mean, "Toon" Link doesn't exist as a real name. He's officially called Link in all Zelda material, no matter what game. He made that up just for Smash. Same with the Mr. in Mr. Game & Watch. I can honestly see it. Now, if it was a really dumb name, yeah, blatant fake. I would prefer Dog & Ducks myself, but it's not blatantly too unrealistic at this point, when it was done before.
I laughed.

Shadow?
Somebody seriously needs to make an image of MK designed like a Nerf(the brand) model.
I would love him to have a Palette Swap based upon that too.
Gonna try to skim the Pacman stuff for information...
Apparently his side-special where he transforms into classic ball-Pacman involves making power pellets appear and pursuing them in the ball form.
His down-special is the fire hydrant, which, if I understand correctly, doesn't inflict damage but does push enemies. If used in the air, it falls and does inflict damage. As you can appreciate, one of the customizations makes it explode upon impact with the ground. Another makes it spit fire, which can hurt Pacman as well if he's not careful.
I vaguely remember that his neutral-special was already explained before, but anyway, how long you hold the button pressed changes not only what appears and its power, but also the way it's thrown (trajectory?).
His Final Smash is surprisingly interesting if I'm understanding this correctly. Characters he ate... apparently turn into a form where they're only eyes (okay I'm really not sure about this, it might just be an expression I fail to get), upon which they become very easy to blow away with a single hit.
You can attack the Hydrant towards enemies for it to be a heavy projectile attack.

Welp. Sounds like Nightmare Fuel already.
(also it kinda dents G&W's chances, since he has no eyes to begin with0
"Aren't those things supposed to shoot water?"
"Of course not! Then it would be called a water hydrant!"
<gets set on fire > "Uh... do we have one of those?"

The obviouser thing about that for Game&Watch is that he'll get stock eyes when he gets hit by Pac Man's Final Smash.

The joke doesn't really transfer from "fire truck" to "fire hydrant", though, since "fire hydrant" means "something that hydrates fire, thus extinguishing it". Whereas "fire truck" is ambiguous as to whether it causes or responds to fire.
But a Darkwing Duck reference gets an A+ in my book.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Guys, I don't want to believe the leak, but the pic for the Tomodachi stage in the leak pics somehow match the Famitsu pic,
◊ despite the article just barely coming out...

Dr. Mario had different properties from Mario in Melee. Even with the changes to Mario, the Doctor would still have the Megavitamins, and he may still have the Doctor Tornado as a Special Move (while Mario would have FLUDD).
