And dammit, I actually read an enlightening article once on why day-one-DLC is not as money-grubbing and terrible as consumers think it is, but I have no idea where it is and I completely forgot what it said.

You can make all kinds of arguments for why it's good, but that doesn't change the fact that consumers hate it. And that can hurt the brand.

I'd be up for character DLC, especially if it was for characters that were planned but couldn't be implemented in time.

My only strong feelings for the supposed leak: The idea of Bowser Jr battling in the Clown Car as a pseudo mech fighter has revived my interest in him as a playable character. Doesn't mean I think the leak is real, just that that would be an amazing way to work Bowser Jr in.

I wonder if Nintendo of America will develop any of it themselves.

The kind of brand-hurting that causes people not to buy it? Or the kind that results in people angrily writing up posts about how it's terrible, while the company makes forts out of the extra cash from the DLC?

All right, one more post and then I'm done. I'm sorry, this is kind of a Berserk Button for me.

In most of my experiences of people using that phrase, there's always at least one literal person who feels the need to bring up that no, he/she is not the only person who does X, while ignoring the rest of the post. Like, the conversation is derailed (hypocritical of me, I know) and the poster's thoughts are ignored just because someone saw the opportunity to make a smug comment on the internet. Like I said, Baffle's comment was inaccurate even if taken figuratively, so this doesn't really apply to you, Enlong.

To put it simply, it's not ever worth saying because there is definitely somebody who will agree with you.

You're right, there is always someone who will agree with a given statement. That's why the phrase is figurative. It's no worse than an employer owning a mug that says "World's Greatest Boss" or an impatient customer at a restaurant saying "We've been waiting for ages!"

Sorry for the rant, guys. Last post on the subject, I promise.

What companies are you talking about, specifically?

EA and Capcom, I assume. Who else?

So long as the DLC is worth my bucks, I'm alright with it.

So characters and stages as DLC is fine.

Well Capcom is literally hemorrhaging money, so they're not a good example.

Cosmetic DLC like alternate costumes should be free.

Gameplay-changing DLC like characters and stages can cost money. Just don't put it on disc, m'kay?

I'd rather not have characters as paid DLC, especially not veterans. But stage packs could work, especially remodeled versions of older stages, which would have been counterproductive to work on instead of new content during the game's actual development cycle.

Bowser Jr., Shulk, Stanley Duck Hunt, Ganondorf, Falco, Dr.Mario, and Jigglypuff. Might be a few others as well.

Upon further inspection, Ness, Wario, Mr.G&W (sigh), and ROB are also there.

Sounds to me like the best course of action would be to introduce a new DLC character every once in a while for free to keep up the longevity of the game while providing a steady stream of cosmetic extras for money. That way people won't complain about being locked out of integral stuff by a paywall, and cosmetic DLC seems to work well enough as a source of money (particularly since it isn't cost-intensive to actually make).

Some new Famitsu scans. The biggest thing of note is the shot of a new section of the Paper Mario stage. Finally, a Bowser's Castle stage! Kinda!

[up][up][up][up] The lack of Ridley is interesting - if the leak had Ridley in it I would've immediately dismissed it as likely fake (not because it's necessarily unlikely that Ridley might be in it, but because I feel that as a rule of thumb one should be skeptical of "leaks" that tell fans exactly what they want to hear).

The main thing that still makes me skeptical is Dr. Mario, though. As much as I loved Dr. Mario in Melee, it'd be an odd example of backsliding on the clone thing - especially when this game is emphasizing alternate costumes quite a bit.

Seems like Meta Knight's largely unchanged outside of the Shuttle Loop nerf and it seems that they replaced the Dimensional Cape with a counter.

[up][up]As much as I agree, Lucina and Toon Link threw that out the window.

And I don't care that Lucy's hitboxes are different, it's still an excuse.

^^ Lucina, from what I hear, is a special case. And Toon Link wouldn't be backsliding, since he was in Brawl.

[up]Special case or no, she isn't different enough to deserve a character slot when the main differences she has from Marth are having longer hair and boobs.
