(Last one is hella fishy though. I don't believe anything until I see rendered models but it's cool.)
The last one is absurd and a good reason to disbelieve the entire thing, provided they all come from the same place
That might just be Wario's shoulders?
Splitting up the Nintendo characters and the Mii Fighters seems very curious...
Also, why make downloadable content out of old characters? Seems so unfair...
And this: "Sadly, we had to trim out many great concepts just to keep within the time constraints. I had a lot more characters, for example.. but sadly I can't discuss which ones didn't make it" ...is very saddening. I wonder why he can't tell which ones.
You gotta believe me when I scare you away, all that I wish for is that you would stayYep, it's Wario's shoulders. I looked at it closely. I edited my earlier post, but meh. Also, the hand where it "would" clip does not match the colors of Wario's shoulders(which are all colored in a specific pattern). There was never any clipping from the image I looked at.
Anyway, time constraints would make it so some characters couldn't be finished on time. Which explains the quick clones to give us a decent-sized roster.(just be glad Pichu isn't there)
DLC is not that hard to believe, especially those. Snake is strange, though... wouldn't it make sense to do it right away? I doubt Kojima would mind, however.
Same reason for cutting Melee ones. Time constraints.

Shadow?@Fawful Crump: I panicked and just about fainted until I saw the date of that article.
Anyway, I don't believe the "leak" for a second. I mean why the hell bring back Dr. Mario but not Mewtwo? Along with it generally being messy.

"It's liberating, realizing you never need to be competent." — Ultimatepheer...still, though, the cynic in me warns me it might have merit... I hope the cynic in me is wrong...
"It's liberating, realizing you never need to be competent." — UltimatepheerCharacters have updated and various looks among each game. We can't discount he'd be somewhat different.
And since when was Mewtwo guaranteed? Pretty sure he never was. Time constraints, Sakurai didn't care as much as he did like in Melee/Brawl(and he felt Jigglypuff was a better addition in 64 too), who knows. Even DLC might be why, being that others were more important/higher priority. Dr. Mario takes the least amount of time, same with Lucina and Dark Pit. Doing those fast over one character helps pad the roster. And boom, finish the rest for DLC and more are happy.
I do agree that is suspicious. But I also don't see why they'd explain their "way they got this leak" either. Makes it easier to spot a fake.
For the record, I do think this set of images are fake due to the bad quality and Yoshi placement. And the DLC being on 4chan, I'm unsure. Lots of real leaks for things have been there before(especially Yugioh lists), so... yeah.

Shadow?
Dr. Mario is still The Scrappy, so I would genuinely be upset if he returned over one of my mains. Lucina's headed in the same direction.

With anyone pissed off that she doesn't even have slightly different stats than Marth. The only difference between the two is one hitbox. That's confirmed.

"It's liberating, realizing you never need to be competent." — UltimatepheerI see the Ness thing as a reason to be skeptical, but not as something damning.
Really, I think the biggest thing that makes me lean toward fake is the stage selection. Is there even one "new" one that doesn't recycle assets? What's up with the stage that's basically Brawl Yoshi's Island with a different background?
I still think it could go either way, though.

Theoretically it would be because the justification given for her outright opens the floodgates for more "last-minute" clones, which would go on to bloat up the roster, confuse people as to why they were implemented over more unique characters in the first place, and overall indicate that we learned nothing from Melee.
...Theoretically.
I think I see a Dream Land stage on the left side. The stage select as a whole does seem way too cluttered, though.

"Tell them to shut up and have some faith in me." - dead flashback guyYMMV exists for a reason. I love Dr. Mario. And I've seen quite a few fans too. Pichu gets far more hate because he sucks.
Sorry, but since when does Sakurai listen to that kind of stuff anyway? He wanted Dr. Mario in twice, and a third time is not hard to believe at all. These are seriously poor reasons at this point. The only reason Dr. Mario won't be in is if someone else gets there first and that's it. And he won't be an alt because he's different from Mario moveset-wise. Just let it go, man. I'm honestly expecting him at this point. Lucina didn't surprise me. Dark Pit is not unlikely, thanks to easily modifiable models.
Likewise, he only technically is, along with Falco, Ganondorf, Young Link, Toon Link, Luigi, etc. It's only Pichu that is currently listed as a Scrappy, and all clones period. Reread the page if you don't believe me. It's a clone thing, not a Dr. Mario thing. Plus, Dr. Mario has some of the most unique differences from Mario, with only Ganondorf similar to that. They have fairly different move designs, being unique colors and models for their attacks. Falco, Pichu, Young Link, and Roy barely went that far. Roy has fire, but that was it.

Every rebalancing project I've seen has given Mario some of Dr. Mario's stats considering he's literally the same guy in a different outfit.

"It's liberating, realizing you never need to be competent." — Ultimatepheer

I would really like a trailer that has Ness fighting Duck Hunt.
Perhaps that's why Ness's reveal has been delayed so long, just like Falcon was getting hype fighting Lucina and Robin?
