That's not really a good excuse regardless. Especially after the many Retro stuff shown off for various series(like remaking the Green Shell to a sprite design in Brawl compared to its more 3D design in the previous games). He's done that multiple times already, so yes, it's clearly doable and he clearly does it. I understand he really loves that game, but it is very overwhelming to see that being the majority of the KI representation as is. I don't expect much from Myth and Monsters, but the original definitely could use more.
Shadow?@52750: The difference is Mario's items were taken from separate games.
Even Kirby, which has five items (Star Rod, Warp Star, Curry, Food, Dragoon) takes them from different games (Adventure, Dream Land 1, Super Star, Air Ride).
What I'm saying is, it'll be a bit awkward if KI becomes an established series later and there's such a high concentration from just one game.

"It's liberating, realizing you never need to be competent." — UltimatepheerThat's Myth and Monsters. Which is America only. I don't expect much(or anything) from that game due to that fact. First game is very easy to find naturally, so there's at least one more well known game to easily get stuff from anyway.
More can clearly be done from that game, respectively. Maybe not much, but some at least.
Designed particularly like the original Super Mario Bros. 1 sprite. It's not nearly the same as the first two games. It's a retro-based design, just like Mega Man is in 4.

Shadow?
It's the design from
◊ Mario Kart Wii.
◊ It even has a little collar for the Koopas neck.

x6: Exactly. And that's why I say "not yet".

Mario Kart Wii came out after Brawl.
With the exception of hammers, nurses, and petrified Centurions, I'm pretty sure everything from KI 1 is in KIU.
I have a message from another time...

OK, that design didn't originate from MKW. But I did some digging and the earliest that design was used was Double Dash
◊, which again works towards my point, that these elements update and change with time. The Kid Icarus design is the design scheme of the Kid Icarus franchise now, and the redesigned enemies reflect that.

Though most of the enemies aren't especially redesigned- Monoeyes and Miks are extremely faithful to their NES sprites in Uprising, for example. It was really only the Eggplant Wizards and the Reapers that were redesigned, and even then it was more in an "update" kinda way. The main design highlights were still all there.

I sure said that!

@Pulse: Where's mah Eggplant Wizard?
Wings of Icarus? I mean, I don't expect the Hammer to show up simply because we have two Hammers, and its use wouldn't be very good. Unless it wasn't a clone of the previous two and acted more like a regular battering item. You could swing it in various ways, basically. That'd be neat. Albeit, the Golden Hammer acts very similar to the first KI's hammer, respectively. The whole two-shot animation was something brought in from it. I don't know if the original Golden Hammer acted like that, though.
And that is true, but that also means that some of the classic enemies could've kept a classic design to rep the first KI instead. Much like what was done with Mega Man himself.
