If I'm remembering correctly, the last time DK Jr. appeared as DK Jr. in a game that didn't recycle assets from the arcade game he debuted in was in Mario Tennis on the N64.
So fairly retro, yeah- Though I'd rather DK just have the unitard thing as an alternate costume.

It's not a onesie, it's a wrestling singlet. Get it right.

"It's liberating, realizing you never need to be competent." — UltimatepheerThere's only a few viable options if they're going for the starter trio. Venusaur is out due to Charizard already being in, Meganium is unpopular, Torterra is similar, Serperior doesn't work that well as a fighter, leaving two potential options: Chesnaught and Sceptile. Although, Chespin's existence as a Pokeball character would probably rule out Chesnaught.
Venusaur is significantly larger than Ivysaur, though- It'd be like controlling a tank, and we all know those're kinda clumsy to handle.
Sceptile is not really a huge favorite, admittedly, but it has a bodytype that translates easily to Smash and a fancy Mega that Sakurai might've been privy to for a while now- I mean, c'mon, rocket pine tree tail is a thing now. Tell me it wouldn't be fun to shoot it as an enhanced Forward Smash after activating a Final Smash.

I sure said that!@Venusaur: Yeah, Ivysaur still has proportions that make it jumping around look relatively believable, since it's approximately spherical, not too big and consists of like 1/3 legs. Venusaur wouldn't just have to be pretty massive, but it's all covered in Thick Fat and it has that giant flower sticking out of its back... and of course Torterra would have similar problems, compounded by the fact that its legs don't even look capable of jumping. Unfortunately, because Torterra is a mistreated precious baby.
Meanwhile Serperior could slither around and soar through the air like a leaf in the wind. It could work exceptionally well. The thing that makes it unlikely is Snivy being a Pokeball mon. Unfortunately, because I'd really like to play it.
I'm not a big fan of Sceptile, but Sakurai has made less potentially interesting characters look fun to play. And I'll take any Grass-type representation I can get.

Too big for bottles onesies? You should see the size of Ridley's onesie.
Generally, I've never been one for Fire types, starter-wise in Pokémon. Grass has always been my go-to starter, with Water for Gen II and VI (and the one in the latter generation could technically change type to Grass as well if it had it's hidden ability).
Fantastic Supreme Überkaiser Emperor Folt of The Infinity and Beyond" ... "The First"!

In other news (gonna copy/paste my post from another forum because I am lazy), I've been trying to design a moveset for a Rhythm Heaven character. It's surprisingly easy in some spots, expectedly difficult in others. It's hard to imagine how a rhythm-based gimmick would work. It stands to reason that the character would be more effective if attacks are performed in a rhythm, but should that rhythm go with the background music like it does in the RH games? The safest extent would seem to be to let the background music change during the final smash like it does for Donkey Kong's, but how far should it go?
Oh, and I think Marshal should be the RH character. Characters that look like him (and thus are likely of the same race) are commonplace in the series, and he's the mascot of Fever. He's also distinct in appearance, unlike Karate Joe.
