A stage where you can walk into the blast lines.[nja]

[up] Yeah. Because you can easily knock some one into blast lines because you can stand really close to blast lines. All stages with walk-offs are banned in tournament play.

Seems so. Apparently people don't like it because someone could just stand at the edge, grab them and throw them right out.

But I think they're good for making people rethink their strategies—don't get caught on the sides. ;p

I have no idea what a blast line is, but I would think the same thing would happen with any stage that doesn't have a wall on all sides.

And, as a rule, I tend to love anything that's banned in tournament play. So I guess walkoffs are my favourite stages now.

Why would Nintendo not use stuff in crossover game just because game in particular is disliked?

Assuming you somehow haven't noticed already, they're as free to do whatever they want with their crossover game as their audience is to do question and express annoyance at it.

Regardless, it's (thankfully) a moot point as far as this concerned.

[up]The areas where you die, basically.

Generally, the issue with walk-offs and the reason they're banned is because it's possible to just chaingrab someone off the side of the stage with nothing they can do about it.

If chaingrabbing isn't as possible anymore (Though it probably still is), then they wouldn't be QUITE as big an issue, though people will still tend to flock to the edges for quick kills.

You can't get grabbed if you hit em from above! Or far away.

Also, blast lines sound like those flashes of light that come from the sides when a fighter gets KO'd. But I think they're the total edges of the stage where you get KO'd.

Feh, fanspeak.

Blast lines are the boundaries. Cross it and you die. It's like a big box around the stage, though the upper blast line is different in that you can jump past it without dying, you just can't get hit through it.

The thing that really annoys me about walk-offs is the inevitable parts where you're off the visible stage but still not past the blast line, and you end up flailing about trying to guess where the people flying in your face are in relation to you. Preferrably CPUs, who of course still know exactly where you and they are.

Yeah, but it just doesn't make sense. Samus' armor design wasn't the bad thing about Other M, the look of the game wasn't bad thing about Sticker Star so why should they avoid using anything from those games just because people dislike them? <_<

Mmm, I'd say Samus's armour design was one of many bad things about Other M.

I didn't have a problem with the Other M suit, aside from the lighted bits being a weird yellow color instead of the green they're supposed to be. They fixed that, so now it's fine by me.

I sure said that!

...Does anyone really think Paper Mario is gonna be a character? Mario already has so many characters, and people already complain about Toon Link.

Those may be reasons for fans to object, but Sakurai doesn't care in the least.

The only two clones we've seen are Toon Link- Who, like it or not, is now an established element of the series- And Lucina, who took maybe 20% of the effort to include as everyone else and is more or less a nifty bonus as opposed to a big new thing.

I sure said that!

@Hashil:

Initially, I had considered including Lucina as one of Marth's alternate costumes. After all, she has a close relationship with him in FE:A. In such cases, even if two characters' names and voices differ, as long as they function the same way, I assign them as alternate costumes. The Wii Fit Trainers, Villagers, and Robin are examples of this setup.

However, even though Lucina shares her physical stats and techniques with Marth, the characteristics of their attacks differ. When two such similar characters function in an even slightly different manner, I give them a separate spot on the roster since that will affect battle records and whatnot. In that sense, you could say she was very lucky to join the fray!

@Spooky: I just dislike everything the suit stands for. They "feminized" it by adding shit like high heels and making it slimmer.

... y'know, I always say that the only game I hate is Fallout 3... and I guess that's true, because I don't hate Other M. I despise it.
