The Chew Toy of Gaming
That would be a ridiculous unlock condition because it relies on other people.
Lampshade Hanging: It's a lifestyle.@Ogodei: What was wrong with Brawl's unlock methods? Also, in Melee, I remember Ganondorf and Pichu being really hard to unlock. Pichu meant either beating a near-impossible Event match (so, about as difficult as half of those) or fighting 200 matches (I went with the latter). Ganondorf was just really hard to beat. That's why I loved that the Subspace Emissary made it easy to unlock characters.
EDIT: Team Fortress 2 has a few achievements that require you to post a video on You Tube and have enough people see it. They are among the most hated achievements in the game.

"What's out there? What's waiting for me?"IIRC Melee and Brawl had some unlocks that could be achieved through different ways (certain number of matches played, doing something in Adventure Mode, etc)
The only particular annoyances I remember was a friend asking me to play co-op with him in Subspace Emissary, where you had to KO Meta Ridley a certain way in order to get his trophy. That was a pain in the ass. But then, that wasn't to unlock a character either.
Thinking about it now, I really hope the Trophy Minigame replaces capturing enemies with Trophy Stands.
o_o
How would that achievement even work? Sure, it's a PC game, but does Steam track the number of hits you receive?

We haven't seen Trophy Stands in Smash Run, so I'm guessing enemy trophies will be unlocked by other means. Perhaps just randomly.
So, I wonder what Ice Climbers will do for a stage. There's only so many stages you can make using the icy mountain, and we have had both the climb and the peak so far.
You submit your replay to Youtube via Steam and it sorta links your Youtube and Steam accounts, at least enough to track views. The last one requires 100,000 views, so yeah...

You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Industrious TF 2 players could set up a botnet and help each other out.
There has to be some Continuity Nod too. Though, I don't know series' like Fire Emblem or Kirby very well, so I can't think of that many.
Like how in order to unlock Luigi, you had to beat Adventure Mode Stage 1 with a certain time (2:00 IIRC, representing how Luigi is "Player Two")
Say to unlock Snake, you have to use a certain number of weapons, or maybe use a Metal Box at least once or something. Or to unlock Yoshi, you'd have to compete in a number of matches equivalent to some number pattern in one of Yoshi's recent titles. Not the best, but you get what I'm saying.
Best unlocking condition...380 "Plus" regular matches to unlock "Everyone"...
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.Only if the challenges tell you how to complete them from the start and it shows which few are character unlocks.

EDIT: I'd like it if, right when you unlock someone, you can view tips on how to use that character. Melee kinda had that, but only if you used that character to beat Adventure or All-Stars. Or, after you proved you don't need it.

"What's out there? What's waiting for me?"I don't really mind how the characters were unlocked in Melee or Brawl. Getting them all was already exciting enough for me.
Probably the most fun to unlock is Luigi because of the motifs (score a 2 in the completion timer in Melee, play 22 matches in Brawl). I hope For keeps the trend.
135 -> 180 -> 273 -> 191 -> 188 -> 230 -> 300 -> 311I'm not seeing why they wouldn't...its probably a mandatory thing to have Luigi with a number 2.

Players like me would sell our copies in defeat.

I sure said that!Yes...our own personal Angry domes. A place where you can vent, with no vents.
Its what anyone would do after experiencing the "Extreme" of the SSE.

I found Brawl's unlocks to be uninspired compared to the original's and Melee's (where only Mewtwo was properly annoying)
Hopefully For takes more notes from Melee in regards to unlocks.
