[up]I said 2nd option specifically, for the possibilty of the "random" online Matches being limited to time only like in Brawl. It'd appear at least once before getting beaten and not coming back.

When it comes to the games, nobody knows. He never removes it. In the anime, though, it falls off during the Falcon Punch moment.

[up][up][up]He does in F-Zero X, actually.

Accounting for the differences in style, he looks like he looks more or less like he does in that famous clip of the anime, but, well, [up][up] with a scar around his left eye.

I wish to monologue about Robin for a moment.

People always expected to get a new Fire Emblem character for this game. Possibly replacing Ike, but not necessarily. Most anticipated it would be an Awakening character. When the game was unveiled and Arena Ferox was spotted, that only solidified that belief. But who wold it be? Well none other than the game's main character and Lord, Chrom. Most expected him, and I suspect most were fine with that as long as he didn't replace Ike.

But then people realized Sakurai was emphasizing uniqueness this time around. And they realized that Marth, Ike, and Chrom gave a poor representation to Fire Emblem. Well first, what can Chrom do? Not much really. Lances were an option, but they don't represent him very well outside maybe a side special. So he has to use a sword. What would his playstyle be? Ike clone? In between Marth and Ike? Not too inspiring really.

So people turned to other choices. Lucina was the next obvious choice, being popular and a girl, giving the series some diversity. But she still uses a sword and would almost certainly be a Marth clone. Then Marth was once again confirmed, and her support fizzled out, though it certainly didn't die. Robin was looked at as an option, being able to use tomes, having white hair, and possibly being a girl, but a nameless avatar didn't look likely, even with the Villager precedent. So people turned back to Chrom.

For Robin, things began to look up when Wii Fit Trainer popped up with a male alt. Opens up possibilities, but not too likely. Marth's confirmation brought Lucina fans down a bit, but Chrom was still in the clear, and Robin was very much a darkhorse candidate.

Then Rosalina happened. Everyone realized that Sakurai was serious about each character bringing something new to the table. I think this is where Robin's support accelerated into being the most wanted Awakening character. Obvious potential, diversity, and importance all in one package. And since Rosalina got in over Toad and Bowser Jr., this confirmed we weren't getting the most obvious characters. Robin's support went up and up. I'm pretty sure this is when I started wanting Robin.

Then comes April, where Gematsu strikes back. Chrom's listed, and the leak has serious credibility. There's no way Awakening is getting two characters, and slots are starting to look limited, so Robin's chances drop dramatically. Ike's confirmation however shoots Robin's want back up. 3 blue haired sword guys were not really wanted. Still, Robin was a longshot at best.

E3 comes and now Gematsu is taken as gospel. Everyone's spirits are down except for Shulk, Chrom, and Chorus Men. Even if it isn't all the characters, 4 FE reps looks increasingly unlikely. Robin, and everyone except the above mentioned 3 really, take a nosedive in chance.

Time for a new character to be announced. The stars align for Shulk. Literally everything points in his direction, to the leaker himself to Xenoblade writer tweets to Shulk being the only one who can carry the hype by himself. People sigh and prepare for Gematsu to be 9/11.

Then we actually get it. Lucina's fighting Captain Falcon while Chrom withers on the ground. Robin appears to to everyone's shock and many people's confusion. It happened. Against all odds, Robin tipped the scales and made his way into the battle, even bringing Lucina in as a bonus, albeit confirming thoughts that she'd be a clone. Meanwhile, Chrom receives the biggest humiliation yet.

Rosalina was the character I didn't know I wanted. Mega Man and Little Mac I wanted, but I had no personal connection with either of them. Robin became my second most wanted realistic character, even though I believed he didn't stand a chance. This is one time I'm glad to be very wrong.

I had no expectations or cares about FE going in, but the trailer prompted me to try out Awakening's demo and I'll be buying it tomorrow if I can. So I guess it affected me in that way.

Play a different FE first. Not sayin' Awakening's bad, just... Not up to par, I think.

The opinion of the FE thread seems to be that Awakening is a great place to start since it's one of the easier entries and is much more polished than the other games.

Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!

I probably won't play any of the older games, since it's hard for me to go from a well-polished game to a rougher one. If I enjoy it I'll be sure to play future installments though.

The game is horrifically imbalanced, is why it's easy. It's actually less polished, I'd say, than 9 or 10.

But that's also just me being unreasonably paranoid because of all the people who get into the series via Awakening and then refuse to acknowledge the rest of it.

So, don't mind me, is what I'm saying. Although I do still think you should play POR or Sacred Stones first

i'd recommend starting with a less streamlined entry too. sacred stones, or 7, they're good starting points.

awakening is a good game but id say its probably one of the weaker entries in the series.

^^^HEY; the older games aren't "rougher", they are less streamlined tongue And by that I mean minor stuff like that each weapon has weight and if unit doesn't have enough high(was it constitution or strength stat?) they suffer decreased speed in combat. Which doesn't in the end matter because only axes are that heavy and most of axe using classes have high stats in those. Also, the games besides gamecube ones and some snes ones didn't have skills and game breaking class change thing along with thing that allows you to reset level to 1 wasn't really a thing before Shadow Dragon.

So YES, you should definitely play the old games :P Try out Sacred Stones first if you are that afraid, its uber easy game even easier than awakening.

@Tarsen: I wouldn't call Awakening one of weaker entries, but I do think its less "epic".

Like you have all time traveling kids thing, but all of those are just optional party members so storywise they aren't actually important and time travel only exists to have SNES Fire Emblem (forgot full name, Geneology of Holy War?) style generation system without actually having separate adults and kids generation chapter split.

Also, I don't really like class change thing since I feel like that while it allows more options and customization that it takes away uniqueness of the characters <_<

Also, yeah, pair up is fun but its really broken mechanic to the point there is no point NOT using it since it has no shortcomings and enemy can't use it so... Yeah, its really game breaking.

I do agree with that its kinda disappointing since old fire emblems don't have exaggerated anime style costume design and use pretty sensible armor design <_<

But yeah, I'd say that there is no real reason why you can't move onto older fire emblem games after awakening since they aren't really more "complex", they are harder yes, but not "OMG I DON'T KNOW WHAT THE HELL I'M DOING". Basic gameplay is the same, but there aren't overpowered abilities as much and characters have level caps.

Well, like I said, Sacred Stones is even easier than Awakening(Characters in Sacred stones don't need unlimited level cap since they have so ridiculously good stats already), but gameplay wise its mostly same as Fire Emblem 7 so thats good place to move after awakening.

But yeah, sorry for our fanboyism here :P
