Wait, what's the difference between "Marth" and "Female Marth"?
Aren't they the same thing?
Got it.
Also, would you consider Robin and Lucina anime-styled characters? Because some on Game FAQS have complained about that. Case in point from someone (not me btw) who dislikes anime:
"Like, great, people with blue and white hair with swords and magic powers.
I'm sorry, I thought I was playing Smash Bros., not Blaz Blue or something.
Ya know why people want the Unholy Trinity? Because they're unmistakable game characters and are all UNIQUE.
Space Pterodactyl who can belch plasma and stuff out of his mouth? Nah. Blue-haired swordsman clone plz I'm a real Nintendo fan.
Towering crocodile king who has cannons and a blunderbuss and pots-and-pans-robot? Nah. White-haired swordsman, plz "But I'm not just any swordsm-"DON'T WANNA HEAR IT.
We all know about Mewtwo already, but nah, I'm sure people want Shulk instead.
Because, you know, Fire Emblem is SUCH a classic flagship series for Nintendo and outsells all kinds of series. And Xenoblade is SO widely known and beloved by the REAL Nintendo fans, the world over.
I don't straight-up ***** much, and I'm still hyped for some Smash Bros, but damn am I feeling left out as someone who likes Nintendo's classic games.
If Fire Emblem deserves 4 reps, then every other series should have like 8 by now. Kinda sick of the Japanese bias. Yeah, I get it. It's FROM Japan, but from what I can see, the Western community takes it WAY more seriously and has a WAY bigger following. All I can say is I hope they really listen to what the Western market wants.
tl:dr version: Character roster needs less anime-inspired characters and more interesting classic characters."
Never feel bad for Sandbag. He loves seeing smashers winding up to hit him.
At least that's what his trophy says.
As for Lucina, from what I saw she really looks like she fights like Marth. But, there's always something that differentiates fighters somehow.
You gotta believe me when I scare you away, all that I wish for is that you would stay![]()

There was someone vaguely like that earlier.
Anyway, it should still be taken into account that it's the Game Faqs community, and although some of the salt may be fairly understandable, the above is quite clearly just day one overreactions.

Different interpretations, I guess?

"Tell them to shut up and have some faith in me." - dead flashback guy@Dragon: In other news: people are complaining that a game made in Japan has characters drawn in an anime style.
I once read an article where a guy complained about Jigglypuff's continued appearances. At one point, he said something like, "And before you say she's popular in Japan, why should we care what Japanese audiences want?". The sheer stupidity was overwhelming. He also said that Meta Knight was clear evidence of Sakurai giving preferential treatment, because it's impossible for people to make a mistake in game balance. Or something.
@Spooky: Pretend it's French.

"What's out there? What's waiting for me?"I never had any doubt that Lucina is a new character (albeit a clone), but tell the internet that.
And Dragon, you're doing that thing. We've talked about the thing.

Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectGame FA Qs does seem to have it out for anime. Case in point from the guy who complained about Robin and Lucina:
"I played one a long time ago. I don't remember much, but it never managed to catch my interest again. I'm willing to bet it catches the interest of everyone who likes anime.
Just a hunch."

I don't think there's any room for doubt. Skimming the thread, it seems to mostly be the skeptical minority arguing for a golden mean fallacy where their crazy nonsense theory is given the same weight as common sense simply because "there's no hard proof either way".

I can understand people being confused with Lucina, since I'm pretty confused myself. She looks like a near-straight clone of Marth despite the general direction away from such, there's been a lot of emphasis lately on alt costumes, and she has a veteran box (single-space) on the normal site, a newcomer box (triple-space) on the mobile site, and a newcomer tag on both sites. Like with the Rayman trophy, I got no idea what's going on.
And I've heard "the site can't handle 2 newcomer boxes at once" but wouldn't the triple-reveals from the last E3s disprove that?
Since we're talking about Game FA Qs, I gotta say I'm now going into salt overload. I already mentioned all the tears from Chrom fans, but between that and the desperation in trying to salvage the Gematsu leak I don't know how much more I can take.

People (not necessarily here, but in general) were using the website layout as 'proof', even though there may be perfectly ordinary, web design reasons for not giving Lucina a newcomer rectangle. Never mind that the mobile site, which is not bound by the same restrictions and choices of the PC site, explicitly DOES give her a newcomer box.
Oh, and that everywhere else on both sites call her a newcomer anyway. But, that doesn't prove anything, apparently.

I really hope Target Test is back.
And Lucina has a chance to randomly trip into targets just for them.

I sure said that!
