It makes since that Lucina could be a clone of Marth. Marth is an ancestor of hers.

But I still think she will have some differences like some special moves and maybe a different final smash.

[up][up]Apparently, even with that being taken into account, the person is considering it obscure because its releases are lesser-known in England.

@Faw: She has her own character page. They wouldn't give an alt costume it's own page.

I don't wanna start an argument, I'm just confused why people try to see something in nothing.

What else should they have done? Alt or not, as I said before, Lucina is a different character who deserves to be recognized as one. So what else could they have done? Have her in the video, but not in her own set of screenshots? Add her back in with Marth's to clutter up that page for no reason? Nah.

Not really in it for an argument, either, but my reason is the same as yours. Then again, this is really splitting hairs. Her moves are the same as Marth's. I'll be surprised if there's any difference, but it's not impossible. Whether she takes up a character slot or not doesn't really matter. I was mostly objecting to your tone.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Robin is now officially Smash's first traditional stance-esque character, right? Or is there a character I'm forgetting. The others required long transformations, and in any case said transformations are out.
"Stance-esque"...?

Smashboards are speculating that Robin will draw the Levin Sword when he exhausts his tome and that the Bronze Sword is drawn out when he has a tome. If correct, this means Robin is probably the closest we're getting to a stance-type character in this Smash since Zelda and ZSS are their own separate characters now.
Oh. Really? Is this based on pure speculation or on actual observation? I figured their specials are just really powerful so they added limited uses as a limiter.

Looking at Sakurai's post that first told us about the trailer, I notice that he said he'd reveal "a new challenger." Singular. This is could either reference Lucina's ambiguity (moveset clone vs. alt) or he switched out the trailer last minute. The latter conclusion seems a bit out there, but I imagine that all the newcomer trailers have been finished for weeks now. So he could've easily switched one out after people were expecting Shulk.
Probably just the translator not being informed well enough. Japanese doesn't really have a plural after all. Unless you deliberately choose to specify, it's perfectly ambiguous if you mean one thing or several.

Yo, Ubi!
Oh wow, is that real? Heh, as I posted before, that thought occurred to me, too. It also occurred to me that, you know, Ubisoft makes Assassins' Creed and also Rayman... That makes it seem like Sakurai was subtly taunting them. While commending them for their cooperativeness. Oh dear.

Lucina has a full newcomer banner on the mobile version of the site.◊ That would indicate that she isn't an alt.
Huh. I dunno. Maybe.

How do we know Lucina's a clone. We saw a little bit, but that's a few moves. Many characters have similar moves without being clones. Did we even see her specials? And yeah, completely new, definitely not an Alt at this point.
I do think that if there was more to her than being an alt or clone, she would've received more attention in the trailer. Robin got a lot of their moves shown and commentated and whatnot, while Lucina just says "okay I'm gonna fight too", shows off a couple of moves that look exactly like Marth's and that's it. I'm still pretty sure she's just an alt with a different character slot at most, maybe slightly different stats and/or Final Smash. But I won't fight about it. *shrugs*

Nomuru: Oh, the person is English. I have no clue what to say about that because I don't know how many games England got. Still FE has been in Smash twice and has had numerous international releases. It should be obvious that it's a fairly important B-list franchise.

Sounds like they're just making excuses for not liking the franchise. I offer none - the game just doesn't appeal to me.

They're entitled to their opinion, though they shouldn't throw around statements that aren't true to justify it.

Still doesn't matter. A franchise of 13 games having 4 spots is perfectly justifiable. Star Fox somehow got 3 and that series only has 5 games.

edit: Assuming FE keeps the same number of slots moving forward the only series that are underrepresented are Metroid and Donkey Kong IMO. Both could use another character.

I don't think number of titles matters as much as relevance and new character potential.

FE's super hot coming off of Awakening, so it just so happens to be very relevant right now.

Yoshi (if we're counting him as his own franchise like Smash does) has one character despite technically around a dozen titles.

Unless they'd want to add Kamek...Yoshi only has one character and its Yoshi himself.

@Faw: I wouldn't even argue that she isn't a clone-ish character. But it seems that we agree that she's her own character, so I guess there's nothing to discuss there.

Yeah I feel like she's gonna be Smash 4's Decapre. She's based on one character, but her attributes, physical abilities, speed and moves will set her apart from being just a copypasta Marth clone. Basically, a Luigified Marth, and she still looks fun to play either way.

Which is covered under new character potential. Yoshi is never especially relevant (I don't think the new game sold all that well) nor does his franchise have much to offer in the way of new characters.

Much as I joke about how same-y the lords are, FE was bound to produce someone different just by the sheer size of its roster.

Huh. Now we can get both Dixie and K. Rool with ease if Dixie is a Diddy clone. Perhaps even more importantly, Lucas is back in the game.

What kind of playable characters would the Yoshi series have, other than Kamek? Even he seems a bit more Marioish than Yoshiesque.

Shy Guy. Somewhat generic characters are clearly fine. Mii Fighters and Villager pretty much proved that. He also has so many forms, that it could make a very easy moveset. He seems to be getting more attention in Mario Kart too, so he's kind of notable to a degree. I would say no on Baby Bowser, but Bowser Jr. could be fun, even if the latter is not a Yoshi-related character.

Problem is that Shy Guy is a freaking mook. You really think that one of first things they think of putting as a playable character is a mook?
