Apparently, even with that being taken into account, the person is considering it obscure because its releases are lesser-known in England.

Long live Cinematech. FC:0259-0435-4987I don't wanna start an argument, I'm just confused why people try to see something in nothing.
Not really in it for an argument, either, but my reason is the same as yours. Then again, this is really splitting hairs. Her moves are the same as Marth's. I'll be surprised if there's any difference, but it's not impossible. Whether she takes up a character slot or not doesn't really matter. I was mostly objecting to your tone.

Also this person never played a Smash game before this, and this is going to be the person's first.
Still doesn't matter. A franchise of 13 games having 4 spots is perfectly justifiable. Star Fox somehow got 3 and that series only has 5 games.
edit: Assuming FE keeps the same number of slots moving forward the only series that are underrepresented are Metroid and Donkey Kong IMO. Both could use another character.

I don't think number of titles matters as much as relevance and new character potential.
FE's super hot coming off of Awakening, so it just so happens to be very relevant right now.
Yoshi (if we're counting him as his own franchise like Smash does) has one character despite technically around a dozen titles.
Unless they'd want to add Kamek...Yoshi only has one character and its Yoshi himself.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.@Faw: I wouldn't even argue that she isn't a clone-ish character. But it seems that we agree that she's her own character, so I guess there's nothing to discuss there.

Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectYeah I feel like she's gonna be Smash 4's Decapre. She's based on one character, but her attributes, physical abilities, speed and moves will set her apart from being just a copypasta Marth clone. Basically, a Luigified Marth, and she still looks fun to play either way.
Vote. .#Bayonetta 4 SmashWhich is covered under new character potential. Yoshi is never especially relevant (I don't think the new game sold all that well) nor does his franchise have much to offer in the way of new characters.
Much as I joke about how same-y the lords are, FE was bound to produce someone different just by the sheer size of its roster.
You have Poochie...that, um...dog thing.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.Shy Guy. Somewhat generic characters are clearly fine. Mii Fighters and Villager pretty much proved that. He also has so many forms, that it could make a very easy moveset. He seems to be getting more attention in Mario Kart too, so he's kind of notable to a degree. I would say no on Baby Bowser, but Bowser Jr. could be fun, even if the latter is not a Yoshi-related character.
Shadow?Shy Guy is making a comeback in that Captain Toad game, so why not?

They'd probably bring in Captain Toad first, and he's just a variation of the mook Toads.
Lampshade Hanging: It's a lifestyle.

It makes since that Lucina could be a clone of Marth. Marth is an ancestor of hers.
But I still think she will have some differences like some special moves and maybe a different final smash.
Batman Ninja more like Batman's Bizarre Adventure
