It's starting to really bother me that almost nobody drafting Ridley size comparisons tries to portray him as quadrupedal on the ground, which was the case in Prime, Corruption and whenever he landed in Brawl. It just looks so much more natural than trying to use his flying pose in a grounded state.
...Meh, at least his fans will most likely get to play his character in Smash unlike many, many other characters that won't make it in as playable. Besides, considering around half the newcomer characters aren't declared Base Breakers on the YMMV page for no reason and it's not as if characters being blamed for whoever didn't make it in isn't a common thing in crossovers, let alone Smash. Remember ROB?

I dunno about the others, but Ridley's pretty freaking huge in that second pic. It'd get really noticeable once he starts moving. And speaking of which, I assume the reason nobody thinks about quadruped Ridley is because he's a very long creature, so him moving on all fours would result in a definitely bad hitbox (especially when you factor in the tail).
It works for Ivysauur because Ivysaur's basically a little square with legs. Ridley? Not so much.

If he's fast (or arguably, even with average speed), big and has super armor that would be an enormous problem for a game with the mechanics Smash has - especially if he can also fly. Note that super-armor itself is a tool to keep big characters from suffering from the issues of being targets anyway.

I always figured Ridley's default pose should be crouched with arms over his knees, like a bird perched and waiting for prey. Reflects Super Metroid and cutscenes in Zero Mission. Consider it a way of making sure he's big while lowering his size by basically compacting him.
...also, if Ridley's in and he doesn't have the present-opening thing as a taunt I'll be disappointed.

In Xenoblade gameplay stopped and you were given a chance to counter whatever the enemy was going to do. That doesn't really work for a multiplayer game and they'd have to make some way of restricting it so Shulk can't just permanently auto dodge. Maybe they could have it be part of a final smash or something.
Same although this had something to do with it too.

You remember the new game mode, For Freedom? Well Kirby isn't going to take that lying down.
