I trust Nintendo not to pull a Capcom, and all their recent DLC has been both inexpensive and actually good content, so I would enjoy it.
That's really reassuring. I don't own any games that have DLC, so I was wondering how Nintendo was handling them.

The most I could see for DLC would be adding in some old Melee stages that got cut and certain Melee characters that could be alternate skins for characters that are already in.

edit: Maybe a collection for music from previous releases that was cut too.

Fire Emblem: Awakening had really interesting DLC from what I've heard, but I can't speak from experience.

I CAN speak on New Super Mario Bros. U's and Pikmin 3's, though. The former was an entire replacement game (82 new levels) for $20, while the latter was challenge mode stages. 20 total DLC stages (The game shipped with 10), four of which were free, and the other 16 costing a total of $9.

I can't see this game getting major DLC beyond a stage or two and some music, but if it does it'll probably be both high quality and relatively inexpensive.

Keepi in mind that Namco is no stranger to free pre-release DLC characters, as shown by Tekken Tag 2, so there's that possibility.

Nintendo's been handling DLC pretty well. They did a season pass for World Tour and delivered on some new courses and characters.

So I got to play a bit of the smash demo today.

First off, Marth's f-smash is definitely closer to Brawl's than Melee's. Shield Breaker has a bit more range though. Oh, and while landing lag is quick for the most part, his d-air still takes forever to recover.

If there's DLC, I'm actually hoping for a Dr. Mario costume. Just so long as it's part of a pack.

[up][up][up]Well, Mario Golf's was handled horribly, Street Fighter x Tekken "it's already in the game data, you just gotta pay extra to get to it" style, so we'll just have to wait and see how Smash's will go.

[up]x6: Anything other than Dr. Mario wouldn't be feasable as just a costume. Even Pichu would have altered hitboxes, and thus, altered mechanics.

Are there any other good sources of Smash 4 gameplay videos besides Gamexplain? Because at this point I watched all of those and all the Treehouse Matches and I still know practically nothing about Yoshi because no one cares about him. =<

Also, I've been thinking, one thing Nintendo must've taken from the reception of their tournament is that if nothing else, the hardcore community is a guaranteed source of revenue if they offer new characters as DLC.

Does anyone else think that Jigglypuff is at risk to be cut? Let's face it, the only thing anchoring her in the series at this point is tradition. Her popularity has been reduced to a small cult following at best, her marketing is practically non-existent, and she's pretty much the textbook definition of Grandfather Clause meets The Artifact. She was low-priority in Brawl, being a last-minute addition. And if Gematsu is to be trusted, the internal debates of Ness vs. Lucas show that the original 12 are not above being axed if it is deemed illogical to keep a member of the 12. But maybe Sakurai is really intent on clinging to tradition. Who knows.

What is a fandom? A miserable little pile of flame wars! 3DS FC: 0387-9377-7408 PSN ID: Raven King Sage

What? It wasn't already in the game. The first batch was just available after the game came out. They've been working on the 2nd batch and released it, and they're still working on the 3rd batch.

[up][up][up][up]They can have new moves for Jigglypuff in Smash Bros. For Wii U and 3DS because Jigglypuff now has a new type in the game Normal/Fairy type so they can draw from that to change up Jigglypuff.

Again with that "moveset potential" thing.

The Fairy-type I'll grant you, but clearly the only logical choice if they want to have another cute Pokemon in besides Pikachu is Furret.

Clearly.

In Melee, Jigglypuff was excellent in the air, moving fast, Pounding other fighters, and using jump+Rest. She was the anti-Mac.

Jigglypuff is part of the O12. It represents a cute side of Pokemon that Pikachu can't do by itself. It has a unique playstyle. It has additional relevancy due to being a Fairy. Sakurai hates cutting veterans. Pokemon is guaranteed at least 5 characters. Jigglypuff has already gotten in over Mewtwo twice. Jigglypuff is staying.

This is what I stand by regarding Jigglypuff:There's never any excuse for cutting anyone. Never. For anyone.

Not even Pichu. If they were in at any point, they STILL SHOULD BE in.
