Seliph, Roy, Lyn, Eliwood, Hector, Ephraim, and Michaiah (who technically isn't a Lord but is close enough) would like to disagree with your implied point.
There's also a shit ton of other units that are neither Lords nor have blue hair and use other weapons.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!I don't think its really about whenever or not Chrom will act differently fighter from Marth/Roy/Ike. Its just that it feels bit redundant to have three characters which fill up same criterias. Sort of like Fox/Falco/Wolf. Are they the same exact character gameplay wise? No. Do they seem so similar to each other having all three of them in the game seems pointless? Yes.

Only sometimes postsWolf feels a lot more different to me than the Plumber Trio, at least. I felt they did the Spacies a lot better than Mario, Luigi, and Dr. Mario. I'm worried Chrom will come out like more of a Falco than a Wolf, that is, not very unique at all.
Yeah, I do think "blue haired swordsman with a sword" is really overused, though. A little bit different of a pace would be nice. Tactician sounds nice.
Also, I noticed just how many shoehorned sinkholes are in the SSB(possibly all) character pages. We don't need to link a Final Smash to anything but its origin game(if applicable) at best, I feel. I fixed one of those the other day too.

Shadow? That's actually a good point of comparison. To me, Mario and Luigi feel much more different than the Space Animals. Their moves and appearances are very similar, but their personality, what they stand for, the flavor they add to the game, are entirely different. Their similarity in movesets doesn't matter because being similar to Mario is exactly part of what makes Luigi what he is, and memetic development has made that an extremely effective personality for him. Mario is Mario. Luigi is the memetically outstanding Eternal Second Fiddle. That's more different to me than "three similar flavors of cool pilot".
The thing is, considering the Tiki tease in the Smash direct earlier this year, Sakurai clearly knows there are significant FE characters that don't fit the sword lord mould; with fan demand behind them. So why is Chrom so likely to get in (considering the now very plausible leak) over more distinct choices like her, Anna, Celica or Robin? Are IS dictating suggestions, as with Roy in Melee...?

...To be fair, Falco has barely any differences to Fox in the Star Fox series itself. Wolf is a little bit more due to having a different vehicle and some more power. But not much different either. The biggest thing was their stat differences in Assault. It's not that surprising they're kind of similar at this point.
Luigi also managed to separate himself from Mario among multiple games, including his own. Dr. Mario wasn't even like Mario beyond have the same body and voice at best. He threw Megavitamins and that was it. I do like how Melee added electricity to him, which as a Doctor, is a logical element to use. I know they could easily give him a more unique moveset too.(and the Megavitamins are not among Mario's Neutral B variants for customization. It makes me wonder if we could see DLC for a skin with a near identical(but different moveset) for free. Megavitamins, new cape color, perhaps some new weapon for Down B?).
I'm actually more worried for Falco with customization. Wolf has more to draw from in the games to have some differences(not counting his very different A moves). Falco's Neutral B is likely to be given to Fox as an option. Not sure what the last variant would be, but Wolf's is not impossible. Before someone says Toon Link, his character size guarantees he'll play much more differently than Falco. Also if the rumor about Ness/Lucas comes out true, it could be a B Move problem.(likewise, Ness and Lucas are the same size) To be honest, if it weren't for the A moves being different among some of them, they could just combine it into one character since all the B moves are similar enough to be treated as customization. I'd almost say Krystal, but she'd have to have a very different moveset from Palutena as is(and I doubt she'd get in anyway. Not enough worldwide popularity).

Anna is barely present even in the one game she does anything besides cameo in, Celica is from a game that is widely disliked, and the Avatar is likely not easily implemented, considering that, unlike the Villager, the different Avatar combinations are considerably different in body type?
Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see the Avatar/Robin in, but I don't think they're terribly likely.

I sure said that!Robin really wouldn't be too difficult to get right, considering the difference in build between the Wii Fit Trainers. If the model was based on the medium height male build and tallest female build, with only faces/hair differing for the two; it could represent a large amount of the options present for the avatar.
...Three Avatar body types for both sexes, yes. The smallest frames are roughly equal, but the middling height ones have a full foot in height difference, and the tallest male body is a solid 18 inches taller than the tallest female build.
... Well, maybe it's time for a new topic.
When Captain Falcon inevitably returns, I hope it's to this music or a variation thereof, cheesy inspirational lyrics and everything
.

I sure said that!

I would like to mention about the Gematsu thing: apparently this person was the same person that leaked all the newcomers from Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3, and it all ended up being true. So it's not like this person doesn't have a history.
I guess that means my only hope for a different Fire Emblem newcomer lies in DLC.
