In retrospect, though, it made a lot of sense; it was one of Nintendo's precious few high-profile I Ps since Pikmin.
And having one or two out-there educated guesses in a list otherwise full of very easy-to-peg characters is great for something you're passing off as a leak. If even one of those out-there choices gets in, that gets people invested in your list, and more likely to cite you as correct when the easy guesses are revealed. Which makes them believe your other out-there guesses will also be true.
Miis are another pretty safe choice. If Wii Fit was one of Nintendo's most prominent new I Ps, Miis are their most breakout mascot character in years. Now, if he'd pegged that there'd be three kinds of Mii fighters, that'd be impressive.

I have a message from another time...The Wii Fit Trainer bit from last year is what's making me put some stock in this leak. Nobody could have guessed that. And apparently the guy leaked the UMvC3 roster and was correct, so...
Last year, shortly before E3, Gematsu leaked Villager, Mega Man, Wii Fit Trainer, Little Mac, Mii, and Pac-Man.

What is a fandom? A miserable little pile of flame wars! 3DS FC: 0387-9377-7408 PSN ID: Raven King Sage![]()
The original leak has been around since before E3 2013.
That post links to the evidence.

Welcome to th:|Some people can get extremely lucky. You heard of the Pokemon remakes, OmegaRuby and AlphaSapphire? Well, a guy on some gaming forum guessed those names a year before they were announced. Okay, okay, he said "Alpha Ruby and Omega Sapphire", but close enough to be called a time-traveling wizard.
"What's out there? What's waiting for me?"Sakurai outright did admit he had it down as "Pokemon from X & Y" and that he chose Greninja based upon his early design. I forget what order of those two events happened first.
The leaker didn't know it was Greninja till later(if he was around that long). His information about Ness/Lucas sound heavily like he was there for a while, but Mii Fighters as a name might've been recent. It's likely that Mii Fighters were decided upon early in development, before Gematsu(I don't know his correct name, but let's go with that) knew Greninja was the exact character.
I've found the link believable, but I agree it isn't confirmed till all of it comes up. If Ness or Lucas is cut, it helps the leak. If neither is, it means nothing since the leak said one "might" be cut.
@Bad Wolf: Because nobody put it on this thread at all. For whatever reason. Still existed as a "leak"(true or not).

Er, I heard it differently. If I remember Tuesday's roundable right, he just had it down as a Pokemon character, with no consideration for Generation, until he saw Greninja's design.

"Fighter" is a pretty generic qualifier. If he'd said there'd be three types of Mii Fighter, I'd be impressed.

I have a message from another time...I think that what will happen is that Ness, Captain Falcon, and Mr. Game and Watch will get in, but no one else will. At least, that's probably what would make me the most happy.
If Ness does get in, they'd have their work cut out for them. Though, I heard that he was alright in 64, at least for a time.
"What's out there? What's waiting for me?"

Eh. I put no stock in that leak until we see a confirmation for the Chorus Team. People like to cite the characters it's gotten right, but damn near all of those were easy guesses. I mean, wow, he was right about Palutena? And Pac Man? Shocker.
And I'm still very skepical of it because of the "Pokemon from X and Y" thing. Heck, it later turned out that they did have a placeholder slot for Pokemon, but not specifically for X and Y.
