I really hope "SUPER FIGHTING ROBOT, FIGHTIN' TO SAVE THE WORLD!" becomes the Smash Bros equivalent of Mag-fuckin-neto.
You could always throw them into Smash for the 3DS and then transfer them to Smash for the Wii U.
I really like that feature, by the way. It'll let my grind up my mains while on the go then switch them over to the Wii U to own some noobs.

It's really annoying how many people are writing these games off as Brawl 2.0 and flipping out over how the game isn't exactly like Melee. Competitive Smashers seriously need to move on. Competitive Street Fighter players moved on from Third Strike, which viewed as SF's technical Magnum Opus (to my knowledge), to a slower and clunkier Street Fighter IV. Yet SFIV has a healthy tournament scene and most competitive SF players were able to move on. Most people without a severe Nostalgia Filter agree that 4's speed is a happy medium between those of Melee and Brawl, and it's significantly faster/tighter than the latter. It's sad how the most trusted people in the Smash community are people like Mew2King, who have a pathetic mentality of "if it's not Melee, it sucks."
I love Smash. I really do. But its Fan Dumb gives the likes of Sonic the Hedgehog's Fan Dumb a run for its money in terms of sheer stupidity.
What is a fandom? A miserable little pile of flame wars! 3DS FC: 0387-9377-7408 PSN ID: Raven King SageI'll freely admit that my problem with the competitive Smash scene is mostly personal. The people I know that actually still regularly play Smash are your typical, competitive, tourney-type players, who play plenty of other fighting games. They're not stereotypical enough to reject 4 completely, but they do prefer their competitive standards. They enjoy that kind of gameplay. That's why they play Smash.
But that's not why I play Smash. So I'm stuck as the minority when a lot of the variety of the game is simply left out. The Smash Invitational is actually the perfect example of why I prefer the less competitive side. Even though it wasn't particularly balanced for a maximum contest of skill, just look at how entertaining the event was with items, stage hazards, and Smash balls flying around.
Personally, I'd almost consider the biggest mistake in the Smash franchise was having Stocks as a game mode (outside single-player), especially since it's essentially become the go-to. But Time is default for a reason. When the goal is staying alive, rather than racking up K Os, the gameplay changes drastically.
I think a lot of the friction between the "casual" and "competitive" Smash has persisted for years because it's hard to separate the two groups outside of specific events, and these two different ways of enjoying Smash just don't play well together. But I think the two different modes in Smash 4 are really good step in mitigating that tension.

I think the final match of the invitational was proof enough that the competitive scene for this game is going to flourish. Brawl eventually got a competitive scene even though it sucks, and even if this one doesn't have wavedashing or whatever, it still looks far better suited for just about any purpose than Brawl, and even without wavedashing still seems like barely a step down from Melee.
It is kinda funny how they insist that their glitches/exploits are keept in every following game and then go apeshit on Nintendo for removing stuff that was never ment to be in it in the first place
and if the Game Cube would've been capeable of patching games would have probally been removed before they could have constructed their little meta around it.

Actually, most complaints I've seen aren't because of the lack of wavedashing and l-cancelling. They mostly want greater hitstun at lower percentages so combos are actually possible, as well as a greater window for dashdancing like Melee had.
But get this—Nintendo asked for some competitive players' opinions on that kind of stuff during E3 and wrote them down. That should be the biggest reliever right here. If refinements like that are made based on those suggestions then maybe it won't be as bad.
I kinda hope that they don't put wavedashing back in. That was something I could just never ever do since I really couldn't consistently do shorthops so I knew that I'd be annihilated if I ever even thought about entering a tourney.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!I have two stories from some Brawl matches yesterday. Both involve me somehow winning. (I've figured that if someone is better than you at Smash Bros., you try to get into Sudden Death if you want to win.)
First match was Battlefield, me (R.O.B.) against my brother (Toon Link). We were tied for stock, he was at 30% and I was in triple digits. I used Robo-Burner to camp under the stage until time ran out, and then attempted to camp again while waiting for Bob-Ombs to start dropping. It actually worked before I even got underneath the stage.
The other was a match with random characters- I was Diddy Kong, he was Marth, stage was WarioWare, Inc.. In the last ten seconds he got a KO, causing him to outmatch me in stock. He would've won... but in the last second he threw himself off the stage, as is tradition- face it, you jump off stages when time runs out, too. Except he just barely did it before time ran out, triggering Sudden Death. I won.
🏳️⚧️she/her | Vio Rhyse AlberiaHas anyone thought about what Miis they're going to try and create in Smash Bros 4 yet? I've got a shortlist:
- Brawler Mii: Shrek (Shrek Takes Ogre!), Broly, Bane, Senator Armstrong
- Gunner Mii: Alucard, Panty, Deadshot (Deadshot Takes Aim!)
- Sword Mii: Raiden (Raiden Comes For Revengeance!), Stocking, Deadpool

Thinking about now I'm kinda surprised they didn't have a Mii Wizard that had all the spells from Find Mii.
