Konknitive Dissonance
Man, that Punch-Out Remix is really awesome.
Join us in our quest to play all RPG video games! Moving on to disc 2 of Grandia!I hope they have a play where I can watch the entire thing. I ended up leaving to see if my local Best Buy was hosting Smash-Fest (they weren't ;-;) and I just made it back in time to see Ken wreck people's shit.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!I'm sorry for this in advance. I know I've been kind of a negative nancy about this game's sound today.
I hate the Punch-Out jogging theme remix. You know how I said not everything needs electric guitars? This music does. Put in some drums at least! Give it a good beat! The original chiptune version honestly pumps me up more. Why'd they get rid of the rhythm and make it a dull faux-orchestral piece? :|

I think they were trying to more encapsulate Bill Conti's Rocky score.
Can I just say how happy I am that nobody's stooped to that theme's nickname yet?
You mean "Ni- *shot*

Join us in our quest to play all RPG video games! Moving on to disc 2 of Grandia! That was the boxing theme, actually. That one wasn't bad.
I don't know why they'd almost completely eschew drums, then. I mean, it seems like the Punch-Out Wii Boxing Theme was trying to do the same thing
, and it had a good drum beat to pump you up. It just seems like by getting rid of the rhythm, you're going out of your way to make the music less suitable for a fighting game.
...That's probably enough for me for today.

Wouldn't the Gematsu leak being true mean that the only unconfirmed newcomers are Chrom (which would make three blue-haired lords, just saying), Shulk (do think he's likely) and Chorus Men? (ehh)
Not too much ability to get a bead on things, especially since the control scheme was kind of confusing (used to A being jump on 3DS, after all), so it took me a bit to get in the groove of things. 3DS version had the "Smash" mode glitched out, so the only version attendees could play was Smash Run, which was fun, if a bit chaotic. Event bosses appear, similar to City Trial. In my case, a large Bulborb (Pikmin) came on screen. Fights are fun, but quick. Should be good fun once i've had a chance to get a feel for the controls.
Wii U version was electric, a total blast. The demo had, i think, the 20 characters from the tournament yesterday. Again, there was a bit of initial awkwardness as the Nintendo reps had brought a quartet of Pro Controllers, which i've never used actually, so there was a while where i was trying to do Kirby's Stone attack and kept doing his d-air instead . I still won the first match as Kirby, against Rosalina, Villager, and i think Little Mac. Second round I chose Wii Fit Trainer, who i hadn't seen anyone ahead of me in line choose, against Samus, Greninja, and Marth, where i evened out on K Os and falls and came third place.
Still, incredible. Controls like a dream.
Played Metroid II on my 3DS, spotpassed a bunch of folks. Couldn't get any of my irl friends to join me, unfortunately, though the two guys behind me in line were pretty cool (and i ended up playing with them).
I'd really recommend it, just show up early.
Me from another forum on the Smash event at Best Buy.
