[up] I'm hoping that the Rainbow Road stage, a stage people have wanted for a while, is a sign that we're one step closer to the Bowser's Castle stage. I hope it's the in Mario Kart 8. Gimme that giant Bowser statue stage hazard!

Page topper, Joy.

I also like how MK 8 Bowser Castle had the Bowser laser statues from SMB 3.

I'm pretty sure he's are talking about the Kamek on this stage. Even in Japan there is a specific Kamek. Unless he said a Magikoopa in the Japanese post.

I keep wondering why it's taking so long to get a Bowser's Castle stage. It seems like an obvious choice.

Would it be too much to ask for some Harmo Knight representation, if there isn't already?

Funny thing is... until you mentioned Harmo Knight, I had no idea it even existed.

[up][up]Why would he have said Magikoopa instead of Kamek? Isn't Kamek the term for Magikoopas in general in Japan?

Yeah, it's popular in Japan, not so much everywhere else because of the whole "Gay Option patch" kerfuffle.

...The game isn't even out yet outside Japan, dude. It wouldn't surprise me if the Miiquality campaign helped some, considering that it outright condemned boycotting the game even before Nintendo's response and encouraged people to buy the game afterwards. At the very least I certainly doubt it hurt much.

[up] Other way around. 'Magikoopa' is what Kamek is called in Japan, and it's also the catch-all term for the other wizard-type Koopas.

Presumably the Japanese post had him mention Kamekku, the Japanese name for magikoopas and Kamek. It's like the Toad species/specific Toad conundrum in America. In any even, Kamek is the only one who can do stuff like change the stage, and it would be a huge mistranslation, so Kamek will appear on this stage.

Normally, I'd agree about Kamek/Magikoopa, but SSB itself isn't canon, so that doesn't really help much either. Link could never kick, for instance.

I'd say wait and find out. Best we can do is hope they translate Kamek(or Magikoopa)'s trophy as it's supposed to be. I mean, again, what can the translator do here? Not like the name is different. It's just an iffy situation. Even if Kamek isn't playable, that might not be him up there.

If anyone wants to check (and can also read Japanese), here's the Japanese post.

Regardless, Kamek was (to my knowledge) the only Magikoopa in New Super Mario Bros. U anyways. It would make sense to say Kamek.

Yep. He was given that nickname(Fang) to distinguish him from the rest of the Kameks(A.K.A. Magikoopas).

Gets funnier when we get Fangs, a variant of the Swooper from the Yoshi games. Also appears in Super Princess Peach.

You know, I was wondering if the daily Smash pic is going to go on a different time schedule while Sakurai is at E3.

Probably not, but it's just a thought.

You mean trophies that look like stages or stages that look like trophies?

The former is nice, but the latter would have been better. ;p

[up][up]Trophies based on stages, ala Peach's Castle and Mute City (Melee), or Luigi's Mansion and Halberd (Brawl).

And this time, they look like little dioramas~

What i want to see is codecs for both Pit and Little Mac, and then when one of them fights on the other's home stage, they also get access to a special "wrong" codec, where Pit ends up in a conversation with Doc Louis (especially unique since Mac is a Silent Protagonist, so Doc's never had someone talk back to him before), or Palutena starts giving weird advice to Little Mac apropo of nothing.

-Me April 18th

In addition, i've now scoured from page 1500 to about the 1720s or so (May 1st). I don't think any more little bits of interest were written in May.

Next comes the slog from 800 to 1350. But i think this has most of the content we could be looking for (though who knows how many were made in that 550 page gap)

I want a feature to make every trophy stageable!

...couldn't be that hard. Just take the trophy from the front, enlarge it, and let the fighters travel over the top line.

It's a little more complicated than that. Each texture has to have code that tells the game what to do if a player entity (and possibly other entities) comes into contact with it. When the player or some other entity gets to a place that the dev team didn't think you could reach, the collision detection gets weird (assuming there's any at all, which there usually isn't). I don't know the exact process behind it but it is more than likely more time consuming than you think.

Sooo... Apparently they just annunced the Nintendo minute?

At this point I can't prevent myself to overhype. How much info is that?

Edit: Maybe I should've written that in the E3 thread. But we don't know, they might reveal some Smash new in there too, so I'm maybe not that off-topic.
