Magikoopas are actually called Kameks in Japan, so I'm not so sure it outright disconfirms him. It's possible the translator doesn't realize it should be said as "Magikoopa" in the US Miiverse post instead.
That said, I don't think he stood much of a chance anyway, but this isn't too good of an example to go from.
Shadow?Part of me wants to see the "CHALLENGER APPROACHING" screen appear after the winner of the Invitational is decided. Maybe with Sakurai taking the stage to play a new character.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!I really don't want to see Miis in the game, if only because I'm tired of them being shoehorned into everything and For Fun mode is going to be 94% Miis.
About the stage for today, I like it. I'm really glad it's not a moving stage because I friggin' hate those. And even though I don't care for the "New" Super Mario Bros. games, the stage itself looks pretty sweet. Though I think I'll still prefer the Galaxy one.

What is a fandom? A miserable little pile of flame wars! 3DS FC: 0387-9377-7408 PSN ID: Raven King SageWhere are we getting the "everyone will only use Miis if they're allowed" bit? Is this based on Mario Kart? Because that's not an equivalent comparison. In Mario Kart, most every character has the exact same abilities. Weight class aside, it's not much more than a visual difference. A Mii character in Smash Bros would have its own moveset, as everyone in Smash does. Which would prevent it from being endemic, unless they happened to be a Game-Breaker, which can happen with any character.
I have a message from another time...And aside from that, I've seen maybe one or two Miis in every other online group in Mario Kart 8.
Nice looking new stage. Kinda reminds me that I'd like the New Super Mario Bros series' art style so much better if they'd go completely 3D rather than have an awkward combination of 3D models and 2D environments.

Man, Miis are an odd choice. They seemed hated as a concept ever sicne they apparead on the wii, yet now they're one of the most talked potential newcomers.
I have to say, as much as I try to stay respectful myself since obviously nobody's forcing me to play as them if I don't want too, I'm still not into avatars in general. I think they can fit almost anywhere, but not at all in Smash. I always saw avatar as a way to see a brand new setup with their eyes, which allow for some exposition that wouldn't work with a character that supposedly know this setup already.
For a game like Smash which is knowneverywhere as THE Nintendo matchup, I think it's a way to mix all the characters fans from various franchises loved and wanted to see interact with other characters from others franchises, plus feel awesome when you get to play as them.
but hey, Villager exists now, so I guess Sakurai dosen't share my opinion (one can argue that he would've wanted to represent AC now that it's so famous, and he apparently did state in Brawl that he didn't want to back then)
I don't see how they could ever annunce a "character" like mii and I wouldn't even see them being overused at any point. Apparently there's stil la lot of people who find them obnoxious especially now that we can hear their voices...
Also... Is Tomadochi life popular? I know the trailers themselves had some highlight from people who find them funny for being so random... I myself couldn't care less about it.
Miis are in that gray area where they are requested and the reasons for including them are sound, but they also attract a Hatedom with their own sound reasoning to exclude them. They share that area with the likes of Tharja and Pac-Man in which they're popularity is 50/50, with no little ground.

Yeah, it's popular in Japan, not so much everywhere else because of the whole "Gay Option patch" kerfuffle.

There was also Mario Power Tennis, which is at least one game where online play was utterly infested with them. And due to their poorly designed customization system, they would almost always have a huge advantage over the regular characters, essentially forcing players to use them if they wanted something resembling a decent match.
It's unlikely that Smash would also show that much bias in their favor as well, sure, but the Miis don't exactly have the best track record when it comes to implementation. That and they're a really boring choice in general.
"Tell them to shut up and have some faith in me." - dead flashback guyU, not Wii.
They gotta have the swamp level with the crazy Van Gogh art style.

I'd love to see a Bowser's Castle in a Smash game. I can't believe it hasn't happened yet.

Sonic in the second picture looks very confused about where he is.
