@Baffle: How the hell you could bribe your way to victory in Smash Bros? If it indeed has that feature, its more likely trophies or some weird bonus game mode
Also, its fricking Wii U's technology developed by Nintendo that for SOME reason has only famous case where it has been used is Skylanders. Its more ridiculous that Nintendo hasn't used that feature besides Pokemon Rumble Arena.

Super Sonic is listed...
Super Smash Bros Brawl Sonic the Hedgehog 2...
I seriously don't know why exactly he's the only character to be that way, it just is.
Its probably because his trophies and descriptions were some of the last actual additions to the game...they probably thought Super Sonic's 1st appearance was the only one worth mentioning, or because they forgot to do it with the few other characters.
It could be anything.

Now I think they plan to incorporate it into more games. When Nintendo announced NFP they showed an image of a Mario figurine that was able to connect to New Super Mario Bros. U, Super Mario 3D World, and a third game that I couldn't recognize.

Batman Ninja more like Batman's Bizarre Adventure![]()
I meant that Super Sonic is the only trophy that reference the game it comes from, instead of saying it comes from Brawl, and Brawl only. Sorry, I wasn't very clear.
I remember having read in an interview or something similar, that they planned on exploiting more the Gamepad's capacities in the next main Mario title in development for Wii U, though I'm not sure they talked about the NFC technology in particular.
To be fair, a lot of the Smash Trophies are of the attack itself, not of what's in it that's from the original games (so, for instance, while Olimar does pilot his ship at the end of the day in the Pikmin games, that specific super attack itself was made/arranged for Smash). It's a weird distinction, but that's the way I've always seen it.
But even so, some of the others are directly lifts from other games and should've had them listed - Kirby's, for instance.
That's why I'm confused about why only Sonic got it.
Is it just me or is Dillon one of the most well-received newcomer A Ts?
It'd be funny, considering it's the only Assist Trophy revealed so far I didn't know the origin of, and apparently everyone else knew who the guy was, so I kind of looked like an idiot.
I agree, though I don't think they'll go the Bribing Your Way to Victory road, since I doubt it's something someone like Sakurai would approve of.

I wanted to choose a quote, but there was so many I couldn't choose. On the one hand I like the concept of NFC figure games and I'd like to see it done well but so far all of them seem to come off as Bribing Your Way to Victory and it would be so very hard to avert that. For Smash Bros, I'd be fine if it was an extra game mode or something of the sort but unlocking fighters with them is something I think goes against the spirit of the series and is hopefully unlikely.

I saw a good amount of demand even before Smash4 was announced and he does seem to be a popular little character right now.

Ok, but if it's just for collection, what's the interest of the whole NFC technology thing? They've already released Nintendo characters figurines in the past, so why would they put so much effort into this thing if it's just for collection?
Even if they do that, I hope they won't be as extreme as F-Zero GX.

I wanted to choose a quote, but there was so many I couldn't choose. As long as there aren't figure-exclusive characters.
The Melee veterans are almost definitely going to be figure-exclusive if Finagle's Law proves right yet again.
(And Skylanders? "Insanely popular"? Give me a break.)

I'm not talking about the games's actual quality since I've never played them, but there's no denying the series's extremely popular, and many probably wouldn't look any further to see a reason for them to try to imitate it and reproduce it's success.

I wanted to choose a quote, but there was so many I couldn't choose.Indeed, if the series weren't popular it wouldn't be making so much money.
Obviously, we're outside of the demographic- it's meant to cater to kids (and grab cash from parents). I'll admit that I like the usage of the model for Disney Infinity, since that uses pre-existing popular characters (and two people from Cars 2). And if they do something like that for Smash Bros., I'm certainly not complaining... as long as, like you said, there's no figure-exclusive characters.
I'm thinking it'll actually tie in to the customizable movesets, and figures unlock attacks for certain characters.

I don't see how it's idiotic to follow the example of an incredibly popular game like Skylanders. And to be fair, we still don't know how they're going to use it, so it's too early to claim that they've "ruined Smash Bros. forever".
