I rather feel it's a bit sparse for a series which has characters other than mild-mannered kids with psychic powers and a length of wood for a weapon. Kind of like how there's more to Fire Emblem than swlords.
Again, let's look at the kick-focused thief dude with wall staples, Hypno-pendant, smoke bombs and more.
I have a message from another time...There may be potential for newcomers, but a franchise like MOTHER obviously won't be getting a 3rd rep anyway. And Ness and Lucas are the only characters important enough to be playable (considering Ninten would be redundant since Ness's an Expy of him, and Porky wouldn't work well as anything else than a boss).
I wanted to choose a quote, but there was so many I couldn't choose."Toad, Ridley, Dixie, and K. Rool are the most prominent ones"
Isn't Toad Peach's neutral-B move?
As for other a-listers, people still want Mewtwo back in the game.
As for B-listers:
Krystal
Black Shadow
Ray Mk. II
Roy
Saki or Isa
Palutena
Those could be added as playable characters too.

AAAAUUUUGGGHHHH!!!!Shulk's at least a possibility due to upcoming release of X and all the hype his game got when it was finally released overseas. Too bad we'll never get to see Zael or Aeron in Smash alongside him.
Isaac seems like a pretty likely pick. There's a fair amount of demand for him and he was left out of the assist trophy reel. Ray's in the same boat.

Looking at the Direct footage talking about the pseudo-F Ds again, and I noticed, on Pyrosphere's FD version, the hole and cracks on the wall are still there. Not saying anything there, just felt like randomly pointing it out...
Ridley at E3.
EDIT: Look at that, F Ds links to the NES article.

Vote. .#Bayonetta 4 Smash

And yes, his more memorable moment would be him Breaking the Fourth Wall in the first Donkey Kong Country, which was both funny and surprising.
