Yeah I'm thinking late August for 3DS and about early December for Wii U (because of holiday rush and less competition with other anticipated titles releasing in November)
Vote. .#Bayonetta 4 SmashNintendo will be holding two Q&A's/Presentations at E3, for both SSB4 and a new 3DS game

Well, let's ask ourselves. What kind of questions do we want Sakurai to answer?
I watch and rewatch that video of the Yellow Devil with the so-obvious-who-else-could-it-be Ridley shadow at the end and I still think he'd just be a boss. He flies over the stage, flutters right in one place and then flies further. If he was playable then he'd have to touch the ground sooner than that and not stay so stationary.
Why they wouldn't show him outright? Well I guess to build hype. Though in the very likely-at-least-to-me case that he's just a boss, it does seem a little unnecessarily trollish.
Only if he flies differently than all the other characters who fly would it make that clip misdirecting.
You gotta believe me when I scare you away, all that I wish for is that you would stay![]()
The fact that he has refused to give an answer for so long is something of an answer itself- He can't be foolish enough to build hype for Ridley only to leave him a boss and expect it to result in anything but reactionary boycotts.
He moves left, stops for no reason, then very suddenly moves left again. That's how player characters move- Bosses are much more fluid. I'm guessing a freeflight mode is his Up Special or part of his Final smash.
Ah, but Ridley is often viewed as the last big no-show, whereas even Sukapon's fans view him as a longshot. Far more people would be upset by Ridley not being playable than Sukapon not being playable- And besides, Sakurai would have just ripped the bandage off by now if he weren't.

I sure said that!Honestly, if he is, so be it. The thing is, it would've been better if he just simply revealed it very quickly(instead of what he's been doing). Building up hype and giving us some hope he might be playable isn't helping at all. All it does is make it way worse if he isn't playable. It won't be pretty, and who can blame the people for being just a tad pissed off that he strung us on this long.
If he's playable in a way, like through some kind of special mode, that's fine too. A Boss Mode where you control a boss would make enough people happy. We get playable Ridley, and he's the large hulking monster some want to see. It works out either way.
Shadow?Yes it will.
It can go one of three ways...
[Ridley is playable]: WHAT?! HE'S TOO BIG! AND THEY'RE JUST CATERING TO ALL THOSE PEOPLE WHO ASKED FOR HIM!
[Ridley isn't playable]: WHAT?! BUT WE WANTED HIM! DON'T THEY EVEN LISTEN TO THEIR FANS?
[Ridley doesn't show at all]: WHAT?! RIDLEY'S NOT EVEN THERE? WE'RE BOTH SO ANGRY WE'RE GOING TO POOL OUR COLLECTIVE RAGE INTO MAKING SUPER SMASH RIDLEY WHERE IT'S NO ITEMS, RIDLEY ONLY, FINAL DESTINATION!
...AND FINAL DESTINATION IS THE ONLY DESTINATION.
You gotta believe me when I scare you away, all that I wish for is that you would stayDidn't Sakurai say that it would pretty impossible to put Ridley as a playable character? That kind of kills it for me. Of course, he could have changed his mind like he did with the Villager, and indeed he didn't directly show him, so technically he might have a change, but I don't know, he still seems very unlikely.
... And then Sakurai'll confirm him as a playable character, and I'll look like an idiot.
I wanted to choose a quote, but there was so many I couldn't choose.Yep.
Nintendo Power: There was a rumor at one point about Ridley being playable. Was that ever a consideration?
Sakurai: I think that would probably be pretty impossible. [Laughs] If we had put our best efforts into it, we may have been able to do it. But he might have been a little slow. Would that be all right? [Laughs]
I wanted to choose a quote, but there was so many I couldn't choose. He also said "if we would do it", so it's fairly clear he could do it if he tried. Also, the only barrier he made clear was "slowness" overall.
It seems more like he never said "There's no way we could do it", it's more "We're probably not going to do it, but he'd be slow."
Sakurai likes to be trollish with his words, so it's kind of hard to take things at pure face value with him.
Also, let's not forget about Villager. He said he didn't consider him fighting material. That changed, now didn't it. There is a slight difference; He didn't consider Ridley at the time. But he knows people clearly want him. It's possible now that he considers it, but still might not do it regardless. Either way, a lot of the stuff that has led up to it just leaves me in the "I really can't tell, but I wouldn't be surprised if he's simply a Stage Hazard." I hope for playable, but eh.
I do agree with Pulse that the flight movement is very iffy. This is why the Boss Mode idea seems highly possible. It could be a Wii U specific feature too.
Well, he said a Nintendog and a Villager himself specifically, but the overall concept was those characters were too peaceful to fight.

Shadow?

mid-late August is my guess. There was a rumor sheet at one point being passed around which pegged it for August 26th, my birthday.
