You know, I don't like how everytime a character gets "deconfirmed" there's a big deal about the game being "dead" or at least haveing a terrible roster. I try my best not to sound like this, especially since I just know I'll buy the game anyways.
But yeah, I don't quite understand. I never played the Wonderfull 101 and I never intended to (not that I'm not intereste dor anything, I've just had nothing that sold me) nor most of the others games unrepresented by Smash, but oddly enough I would've been happy to have them get represented even if it costs some additional rosters for the already represented ones.
With all the characters suggestions I personally didn't always agree on (must...not...reference a certain Metroid/DK character......) it seemed like a nice idea for me to have some more franchises thrown into the mix, I think it could help them grow popular and haveing lot of popular, varied franchises sounded like a good selling point for Nintendo.
But yet again, even if they give us a weak roster to a point where there's barely any new character reveal even for E3, even if I'm going to sound like an angry fanboy and rage, I'm still going to buy this game. Somehow I just know it.
And Sakurai did apparently say the roster wasn't his main focus, but it's usually what the Nintendo fans look for in Smash. Just look at all the dream characters list.
Travis Touchdown has yet to be deconfirmed! The dream lives yet in the fanboy inside me!
Yeah, never saw why so many people thought Wonder Red was sure to be playable. His game was pretty amazing from what I've heard, but he's just not a notable enough character yet. In fact, with all of the people saying he might not get in the game at all due to copyright issues earlier in the forum, I'm just glad to see he got in.
Now watch this be a huge troll moment and that's the trophy you get after you beat Classic with Wonder Red
My big overall problem is that this was their last shot to push W101 before it (like all the other new Nintendo IP's that people complain about for this very reason) vanishes into thin air because it made no money and Nintendo is never gonna talk about it again. Yeah, Wii Fit and Animal Crossing are new IP's in Smash Bros, but they're both IP's that have already made tons of cash. This was Nintendo's last chance to give The Wonderful 101 any kind of push.
And they blew it.

Ah well. To be honest, I like Bayonetta more in the event that there is a Platinum Games rep, but I still feel bad for his fans...

Smash Bros. is usually more than an advertising vehicle, and both companies involved tend to consider games as more than the sum of their sales - if Bayonetta and Sin & Punishment could get sequels, Wonderful 102 isn't an impossibility. The IP's larval nature made playable representation unrealistic, but perhaps the situation will change come Smash '6'.

...Given how recent 101 is, it does show that they are willing to put in recent and new IP in Smash in some degree. Just not in a playable form at the moment.
Vote. .#Bayonetta 4 SmashDo you mean you didn't want him very much, or that you really wanted him to not get in?
Anyway, I suppose I always knew this was coming, if I'm being honest with myself. Unite Morph has size issues Ridley can only dream of, and a moveset without Unite Morph would be, just, what's the point, you know?
I have a message from another time...

Honestly, I just find all these deconfirmations funny. No need to get worked up about it.
