The fans see it as Red because that's the canon name given to him by GSCHgSs, but as it stands he's directly based off of FrLg, where Red is a Hello, [Insert Name Here] protagonist- thus, he has no name because of that.
And also because he's meant to represent Pokémon player characters as a whole, rather than Red specifically.

Yeah, that makes it easier to apply.
I really want to know more about those custom moves. Is it an equippable thing? Can you customize every move that's customizable or can you only do a set number? Is there like an amount of "move points" you're allowed to use to put on moves? And can you make the moves stronger?
These are the important things!
You gotta believe me when I scare you away, all that I wish for is that you would stayI don't see how calling Pokemon Trainer Red is ignoring all evidence. There's plenty of evidence that points to it, but you don't see it as convincing, just like we don't see the evidence of him not being Red as convincing. In conclusion, I think arguing over it is pointless and you should stop bringing this whole thing up whenever someone wants to call him Red, because it doesn't matter at all in the long run.
No, there is zero evidence that makes him the actual Red. Being called something else already shows he's blatantly not Red. Having tons of evidence showing he's based upon him, but not literally him, makes quite a difference. And the only evidence that actually isn't false is his physical appearance matching one version of Red. And that's it. The idea he "traded" for the Pokemon ignores the entirety of Brawl making it clear he caught them in the first place. Including Brawl's actual story. No, you cannot imply he traded for them because he's a class that theoretically could. Implications need some kind of actual data behind it to support it within the game itself.
There's a difference between a nickname and Fanon Discontinuity. Him being Red is pure fanon. Him being Pokemon Trainer is the actual canon. That needs to be accepted. It's constantly been very annoying when the actual Character Sheets had to be fixed because of this. It affects the Wiki too, after all. Likewise, pointing out why Origins doesn't affect PT was pretty necessary in the first place. Why bother asking about it if you don't want the actual answer to why PT wasn't back, despite Origins existing(who had a different character in it anyway). I had every right to answer it properly.
Shadow?Well, we could turn this into a policy discussion if you want to. Then we'd all be yelling at each other until we either come to a stalemate, in which case what's on the page stays, or one side gets consensus, in which case the page gets changed to match what the consensus thinks. Do you think you can get a consensus?
Or we could drop the whole thing and shrug it off as semantics. That works too.
Wiki consensus doesn't put in false information just because lots demand it. Also, trying to Rules Lawyer it is ridiculous. That's not how this Wiki works. We know for a fact his name is not Red. He is specifically just a Pokemon Trainer. How much of him is based upon Red is definitely fanon. But literally being Red is not a fact.
A lot of information on this thread(notably false information, or unconfirmed stuff) has been put on the Wiki, which is bad entirely. It's vandalism, and we need to be a bit more specific to what we put in, as in non-fanon stuff.
Likewise, I simply answered a question as it came up. You all jumped on me for providing a fact to the person who made it, explaining why Origins doesn't matter. Because it's kind of hard for it to matter when it's not even a relevant character to the series. PT wasn't even based upon Origins, which didn't even exist during Brawl. He was based upon Yellow or the Anime(the only logical ones to base all of his information but his appearance(which is obviously FR/LG) on). Possibly both.

Shadow?Pfft. Just had a silly thought. Remember the Snake-Codec about Wario, and how he could "fart to fly around"? I just envisioned there being a variant of Wario Waft where, insead of exploding, he uses the gas in a manner similar to R.O.B.'s booster jets, to fly around, like the world's second-most-disgusting fart-fueled jetpack.

I have a message from another time...(Um new discussion topic new discussion topic)
SOO... how many Pokemon you guys see in the new game, 5 or 6? I know 6 sounds like a stretch but counting PT's guys as separate characters we had 6 in Brawl anyway. I just really want Grovyle (we got a Mystery Dungeon fanboy here)
... I can't believe I'm asking this but... what's the first?

I'd have to say enlong's thinking of Franky from One Piece, though i'm not sure.

Ignoring all evidence? Well, too bad he's not and never was Red. Being based upon is not the same as literally being someone. The Links examples don't work that way, as they're all Composite Characters anyway(unless you're saying PT is a generic composite character, then the examples make sense). He's still just a generic Pokemon Trainer and won't stop being one(in Brawl). If Sakurai wanted him to be Red, he would've named him Red. Instead he partially based him off of the guy and nothing more.
I'd like to add flames to Kirby's Final Cutter myself. Or make it a laser blade like in Kirby 64.
@NES Classic: They may be. It depends how they work, and how many changes can be done.
