Oh, man. I remember that! That was one of the games that made me wish I had a Game Boy Advance.
Kirby: Early Damage Options
Forward Throw + Side B (Hammer)
Forward Throw + Up B (Final Cutter)
Back Throw + Back Air
Up Throw + Final Cutter
Consistently works on any non-Meta Knight and non-skilled Meta Knight player.

Wow, can't believe I forgot that one.
I've always been a fan of the Fox/Falco "down throw, reflector" combo.
The very best, like no one ever was. Check out my Spider-Man fanfic here! [1]I like using Dr. Mario's Dthrow+Doctor Tornado on people at low percents in Melee.
Also, yesterday I took a nap for one hour when I got home, and when I wake up my younger brother had become capable of both beating Level 8 and 9 CPUs and whooping my ass in Brawl. I don't know whether I'm proud of how good he's become, or angry because he practiced while I was asleep.
🏳️⚧️she/her | Vio Rhyse AlberiaThat's a good way of looking at it. We're still evenly matched in pure Random matches anyways, and matches are a lot closer and more fun.
Funnily enough, I found out his one weakness is Ganondorf. I try to avoid using him, though.
Toon Link. He tries to keep as much distance as he can when dealing with low-% targets, and switches to close-range once he knows he can knock you around.
🏳️⚧️she/her | Vio Rhyse AlberiaKeep distance...as Toon Link, whaaat?
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.I am very surprised that he's getting his ass kicked by Ganondorf. According to the tiers, that match up is in Toon Link's favor (then again, every match us is unfavorable to Ganondorf besides a Mirrior Match. He actually has a 0 win record against Sheik, Olimar, and the Ice Climbers).

If I was feeling generous, I'd call that tactic "unconventional", but I just of the line with my annoying mother, so I'm just gonna go with "pretty darn silly".
Using long-distance attacks is to disrupt the enemy and keep them off-balance, not to do any actual damage. Toon Link is all about "up close and personal".
Ganondorf can basically ignore Toon Link's projectiles, thanks to his weight, and is nimble enough to eventually catch the little coward.

It's a strange tactic, but it works anyways. He's not afraid to batter you if you get too close, either, but then he goes back to slowly racking up your damage %.
As for Ganondorf, he claims it's because since no one uses him he has no idea how to fight him and generally underestimates how quickly a clean hit from him kills.
That too. Nobody can stop the King of Slowness.

🏳️⚧️she/her | Vio Rhyse AlberiaUse Fox, Falco, or Wolf. All of them are faster and have their Reflectors to punish his camping. Marth can also serve a similar purpose for this with his Counter (Ike is too slow). Alternatively, use Sonic who can approach him faster than he can attack or retreat and keep the pressure on him.
Really, a good Marth player (or a good player of any aggressive character) could dominate him.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!Having a good handle on what T-Link's projectiles do and the best ways to avoid them, as well as predicting what he's going to do once you get close enough, will probably do wonders. Does he have automatic responses to certain things you do, especially once you get close? Learn what they are and learn how to use that knowledge to your advantage.
Ah, the Gen Factor.

Custom moveset effects:
Toon Link's arrow: Property of Ice: Fully charged freezes an opponent for times.
Kirby's Hammer Flip: Property of fire: Does more and lasting damage.
Luigi's Smashes: Electric stat: Has more launch power.
Bowser's Fire Breath: Ice effect: Freezes and Melts

You'd get frozen by the ice effect then instantly melted by the fire...

Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.Marth used a Stinger variant of Shield Breaker in the Direct
, so it seems that custom moves can actually have different animations under certain conditions, not just altered projectile properties and hit effects.
