Cancelling only requires a single button press. This is old stuff.
What's a shine?
What I especially like about SSB is its dodging. That the shields are reflective is cool enough, but there aren't enough games where you can outright avoid attacks that are shot right at you.
And even in the air.
You gotta believe me when I scare you away, all that I wish for is that you would stayNo, that was the answer to your question. For whatever reason, the competitive community refer to the Reflectors used by Fox, Falco, and Wolf as Shine. See?

Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book! The reason is that most people use the move as an attack rather than as an actual reflector. A move that comes out in one frame, sets up combos, is jump-cancellable, and can be chained through wavedashing has a tendency to outclass the whole "reflector" part of the move.
Granted maybe it probably isn't necessary, but it is such a spectacle to watch someone do combos with it correctly.
I'm imagining Krystal as a fighter now. I feel like she'd use a bit of acrobatics and some telepathic tricks. Maybe for her own reflector.
Unless she just uses her staff, though somehow I don't expect that. She hasn't used it since Adventures, and barely.
You gotta believe me when I scare you away, all that I wish for is that you would stayI don't really care much for Krystal as a character. She's sorta bland in a series where character personalities are more defining than physical ability or anything else, the love interest plots regarding her are pretty sloppy and unfitting, and a huge amount of her fanbase tends to stray toward the creepy or atrociously annoying end of the spectrum.
She's hated in Japan, though, so I can't see her getting in anyway beyond a voice on the Star Fox stage.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Tsk tsk...
In Assault she kind of took over for Peppy by telepathically locating enemies' weak spots.
I liked her romance plot—in Assault it was cute, and in Command it made for nice variety in the different story paths.
As for her natural abilities...eh, telepaths do have some advantage in fighting. Nothing precognitive, but maybe enough concentration could make her stronger.
Oh well. Can't have it all.

Certain to return. He already has 2 Assist Trophies from his universe, though he was a given before.
Not very likely to be cut. He's from Sakurai's favorite series, and has a unique moveset.
I could easily see one or the other getting cut, but definitely not both. I think both will likely return though.
True he hasn't had a game in forever, but he's one of the most beloved characters on the roster, as well as having been in since the first game. Can't see him being cut.
Yeah he's a clone, but he's just waaay too iconic to Zelda to cut. They could always change his moveset, too.
I don't think either will probably be cut. But if one was, I'd go with Falco. Yeah he's been in since Melee, but on the other hand, Wolf is a villain and just more interesting all-around.
He has an extremely unique moveset, and his games are an important part of Nintendo history. No way he'll get cut.
I think people may be reading too much into Sakurai's interview comment. And Rosalina and Olimar may show they have overcame this issue. Remember he wasn't talking about the Ice Climbers specifically. I am worried though, Ice Climbers are my #1 favorite along with Kirby.
A cut could easily happen. Who knows.
I dunno, I guess he could be cut? I like him and he's unique, but he's a game peripheral, so...
Assumed cuts:
Looks like Pokemon Trainer won't be returning. It's kind of a shame since it was really unique and an interesting concept, and represented stuff central to Pokemon.
Ivysaur and Squirtle aren't likely to come back without their trainer. They're just too minor, Charizard has always been the fame-hog.

I'd like Krystal to be in. I'm with Keybreak in regards to her romance sub-plot with Fox. In fact, it was the bullshit break up that happened at the beginning of Command that made me hate it from the word "Go" (the kind of bland gameplay and only one or two of the endings being any good certainly didn't help change my opinion).
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!On the contrary I liked Command's gameplay too. I kept replaying even after I finished it all because I liked the different ships.
The "only one pilot is flying at a time" idea wasn't as cool though—I wish that the battlefield was live everywhere.
Anyway, if Krystal isn't in I won't really protest. It'd be a very nice surprise if she was, but what can you do.

Because how else would you go about doing that? What other kind of technique could you put in that lets you shield and move or chain shines or anything of the sort? Wavedashing is really the only kind of mechanic that could allow for that.
