@Playable Adam: This'll probably be an unpopular opinion, but I get the feeling that had Other M never happened (or at least it was better written, had no authorization mechanic and Samus actually acted like Samus) that Adam could very well have been a viable choice after Ridley and both versions of Samus. Of course, that never happened...

Of course Pharoh Man did Wii Fit; it's how he beat the shit outta Megaman without a power.
@42322: Shrek is kind of a meme on Miiverse. The SSB community is constantly FLOODED with obvious troll demands for him.

Disco Inferno vs. YOGA FIRE? The winner between the two seems rather obvious to me.
Shrek is love. Shrek is life. Shrek is Smash. One of my friends said he'd main Shrek even if he was F-tier.
The very best, like no one ever was. Check out my Spider-Man fanfic here! [1]"What's wrong with Samus being sexy?"
Not a thing. PROVIDED that it's done in a way that respects the character and doesn't lower the quality of the storytelling. Well, we've reached the point where the Zero suit is actively harmful to Samus and Metroid.
Samus started out as a character that was serious when she was working, and could take off the armor when she was done. There are a LOT of female characters that are sexualized 24/7, so it was nice to have one that was slightly more realistic, with a clear line drawn between how she dressed when she was handling serious business and how she dressed when she was getting some R&R.
In Other M, when Adam was agonizing over whether or not to risk Samus' life by letting her try to save his brother, the camera ended up focused on Samus' butt. You couldn't see the face of Samus or Adam during that dramatic moment, but you could make out just how tight her suit was.
We officially hit the moment where she was being sexualized so much it was detrimental to the storytelling.
In Smash Bros. they tried to justify the heels given to her in Other M by saying they have rockets in them. "See, now they have a purpose! They're a way to help Samus jump high!" The problem? Zero Mission and the tie-in comics and manga had already established that Samus was superhuman. Her Chozo DNA let her jump over a story in height at any given moment, and using the spin-jumps she could scale a sheer wall indefinitely. Before Smash Bros., Samus didn't need rocket shoes (heel or otherwise) to jump really high. She could do it herself.
We officially reached the point where they wanted to sexualize her so much they made her less powerful to do it.
And yes, character design matters. What a character wears and when/how they wear it tells us a lot about a character (there's whole art school courses about character design). Changing Samus into someone that spends more and more time "on the job" in a skintight suit (and high heels) instead of in a tank of a suit? That changes how she's perceived. It changes her personality. It changes who she is.
So yeah, there's a heck of a lot wrong with "sexy Samus," actually.
*cough*
ZSS wasn't any less acrobatic or agile than Samus in Brawl. Moreso, in fact, despite the power suit having a jetpack, but whatever; she jumped good in Zero Mission, too, maybe the Power Suit is just that heavy.
And it seems that a similar thing is going on in Smash 4, as Sakurai didn't place any emphasis on the boots helping her jumping ability, so much as he talked about her using the exhaust to kick people. Indeed, there looked to be only one move where the boots are seen firing for extra height. The rest is just jumping. I don't think it's much of an issue to say that Samus with more weapons can do more damage than Samus with fewer weapons.
I get the feeling that Sakurai was asked to use the new design, and decided that if they had to be heels, they'd be jet heels.

I have a message from another time...It's a problem when the "tools" replace her inbuilt abilities. If you're able to do superhuman jumps, you really should be able to do superhuman kicks. And having the rocket in the heel is pretty much the opposite of a good design if you're trying to make them for kicking, since that would create situations pushing you ~away~ from the target.
And yes, there was definitely a clip showing the heels giving a boost to her jump. Which ignores that she should be able to jump super-high if she wants, without boots giving a boost.
I'd agree that Sakurai is just doing his best to show the respect for senior staff that's expected at a company like Nintendo, but it's just depressing seeing the mistakes of Other M snowballing like this.

Y'know, I love ZSS, but I'm starting to think now that she should have not been included, if it was going to cause this much controversy... :(
Vote. .#Bayonetta 4 SmashYes, there was a move (probably a new Up B?) that had them used as a booster. But her other jumps shown seemed to be as normal.
Far as I can tell, it's an additional tool/weapon, on top of her already impressive abilities.
As for the kicking, I don't mean using the jet to accelerate the kick itself, I mean firing the jet after landing the kick, to blast the target with burning rocket fuel.
