A supporting character from a single game isn't enough to get you into Smash Bros. There should be no scraping of the bottom of the barrel to come up with characters. This is a game for all stars.
...But he did in Smash Bros. Which is what we're talking about.

Ridley's also the only one to have multiples of the same character in the Metroid series. That isn't a generic enemy, anyway. Clones and all. Dark Samus is a different person, of course. He(from what I remember, Dark Samus was presented as male, but I could easily be wrong) reminds me of Nightmare from Soul Calibur. The suit itself became possessed by something. I think Nightmare did it first, though.
Nightmare for Assist Trophy
Anthony (insert last name here) from Metroid: Other M, the first "Guy" on the Space...the first "guy" in Smash bros.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.I take it back. There's Dark Samus (primary antagonist of the Prime trilogy). But she's an Assist Trophy.
Irene: I'm fairly certain that the Metroid Prime was referred to neutrally, and Dark Samus was based on Samus' DNA, so in all likelihood, Dark Samus is also "female". Inasmuch as an animated suit can have a gender.

Sheik had only one game and s/he gets to stay in. ;p
But then so did the Ice Climbers...and Lucas...and I guess Ness if you don't count Ninten.
Or is the rule "no supporting characters unless they're in more than one game" and Sheik counted as a main?
Or "in a really popular game".
You gotta believe me when I scare you away, all that I wish for is that you would stay@Bad Wolf: Someone was saying "Its okay for Snake to have skin tight outfit because he always had while Samus didn't always have" and while I don't take stance on whether that is good or bad argument, I wanted to point out that it isn't accurate to say that
And just asking that if clone Ridley has same memories as normal one, is that really the case of there being "multiples" of same character?

Keybreak: Sheik was, for all intents and purposes, one of Zelda's moves. Melee's Zelda was based on Ocarina of Time (her most recent appearance at that point), and she spent most of that game as Sheik, explaining her presence.
Irene: The trophy descriptions from Brawl use neutral pronouns for the Metroid Prime, and female ones for Dark Samus.

Because they were still never the same person. It's like twins. Despite being similar, they're their own being.

I don't count Brawl for anything but Smash factors. Means nothing to Metroid in itself. I need proof from the Metroid series only to say it's anything but a genderless being. SSB is not canon.

...Like that. That'll work. Thanks, Cassidy.

Shadow? So on topic what has no relation to Metroid or actual clones, what would happen if you were to shoot a projectile on the Balloon Fight stage?

Only sometimes posts
Pit's Arrow was the only projectile without limit.
If this rumour is real
, that heightens the chances for Takamaru as playable character in Smash.
Dark Samus was never really a "clone", per se. What Dark Samus was was the energy structure (soul?) at the core of the Metroid Prime, having absorbed the Phazon filling Samus's corrupted Phazon Suit, in order to regain a shape after the fight nearly destroyed it.
So, it had the shape of Samus's suit, and some generally Samusesque skeletal structure (seen in Prime 2), but a clone? Nah. The copied suit shape was more like a skin or exoskeleton to Dark Samus.
I have a message from another time...Dark Samus is as much of a clone as Gandrayda is when she's taking Samus' form.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book! No, she literally has your DNA (and Metroid Prime's also).

I think some might misunderstand the usage of clone. It's not "gameplay" so much as having the same DNA as a person. Blood Falcon is a clone of Captain Falcon, but actually has gameplay differences.
Just a semantics point.
Moving on, I'm loving the new Balloon Fight stage. I'm also glad to see the Flipper in there. He made it clear it wasn't an Item, but I thought it might show up in some other way too. I was right.
Ah, true. Some of Samus's cells likely were intermingled with the Phazon when Metroid Prime stripped it from the suit. Still, I can't imagine that was enough for Dark Samus to really be a clone. More like it used that bit of her cells to mimic her shape.
I mean, heck, Metroid Prime didn't even take the actu suit, just Phazon in its shape. That's some remarkable shapeshifting.
I have a message from another time...So Dark Samus is the spliced lovechild of Samus and Metroid Prime?
And yes, the Balloon Fight stage is awesome. I wonder what the retro stage(s) on the Wii U will be like...
