And roughly 0% 5% would have acknowledged as a feasible newcomer!
Barring the fact that it happens to be recent (in fact, some would argue that it's oddly too recent), point still stands.

"Tell them to shut up and have some faith in me." - dead flashback guyKeep in mind many didn't think Charizard was going to be separated either. Some could've argued that any regular Starter(Pikachu aside), they'd be stuck with the other two. So Greninja solo was not really highly expected without the other 2 starters at best.
In fact, removing transformations was a pretty unique thing and not expected either. Wanted by some for balance issues, of course. Which is a pretty good reason, imo.
Shadow?I suppose part of the issue is this: Marth and Ike are the only Lords who have been the lead in more than one gamenote , so they're much bigger news than anyone else. Chrom is the lead of the best-selling game in the series, not to mention the game that kept the series from being canned. There's two other leads in that game, but one of them is extremely similar to Marth and the other is anywhere from four to six feet tall and has no definitive look or even sex.

I sure said that!Marth and Ike fight nothing alike, and Chrom likely wouldn't handle like either of 'em either, especially if he gets access to Lances for a special or something.
Really, is it necessary to mock people just because they prefer different characters than you? >.>
I've noticed Wii Fit Trainer doesn't have a voice so far. Might be why an alternate male costume works so easily.
I doubt that'd be a problem anyway. Other female voice actors could just add in, or male ones, depending what the default version is and who voices them. They don't even have to hire new actors, either. Did Robin have any voice acting in the original game?
Shadow?Plenty. Some lines for story moments, grunts for being damaged and attacking, lines for acting in tandem with other characters, some victory lines ("Now that's strategy!"), and lines for crits/skill activations ("Checkmate!")

I have a message from another time...It's probably the voice from Wii Fit.
Personally, if they want Robin, I'd much rather they use Katarina. They gave her the Grandmaster class for the DLC in Awakening, so she could have the exact same moveset, but she actually has a canon appearance. I don't think they need either of them, though.
If they want variety, they should go with someone from Radiant Dawn. Michaiah, the Black Knight, or Sephiran would be awesome. Even Sothe would be cool, being a green-haired knife-wielder over a blue-haired sword.

@Pulse
: To be fair, Greninja might've started development before X/Y's release.
Anyone have any idea how long it takes to develop a new character for Smash?
He does consult with Nintendo bigwigs to see which Pokemon may be popular, and he goes from there.
Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectActually, myself and another guy totally called Greninja back in February before even the Little Mac reveal, albeit as a Charizard replacement on a new Pokemon Trainer team. So it's not like absolutely nobody called Greninja anyway, he was still an Unexpected Character but "0% of people" is overstating it.
I'd love to see a Rhythm Heaven character myself, if just because I feel his moves would be incredibly fresh and unique.
Also, I've never been of the mindset that they'd both keep Ike and add Chrom. Either one or the other and someone like Anna or Robin could easily join Marth to better represent FE.

Yeah, Katarina could work, and I'd love someone from Radiant Dawn. The only concern I have is that perhaps it would seem unbalanced to have two characters from Marth's games or two characters from Tellius while several other continuities get no characters at all.
I also think Anna would work. Considering all the bickering about whether or not FE characters stop being relevant after their series ends, they might as well go with a character who continues to show up in every new game, particularly now that she's been playable. Not that suggesting Anna really stops the bickering, but yeah...

Welcome to th:|Yeah... Pokemon characters are kinda odd cases. The only real face of the series is Pikachu (and Ash, but he doesn't count). Beyond that, most mons could be described as having a face-like function because they are all supposed to be recognizable and marketable and stuff. In the end, a lot of it probably has to do with executive decisions on which they're going to push for the most. Otherwise, we wouldn't have Lucario. They probably anticipated Greninja's popularity.
Then I looked at your name and "wait, you're Pulse! No Pulse, stop, you're too hard on yourself!"
(... I really didn't see much jerk-being going on actually, though.)
Anna would be pretty amazing, too, of course. But yeah, Robin (female, obviously) is pretty much the only character I actually dare to tentatively hope for. She just has such a pleasant design! I want Mewtwo, too, and Ridley would be cute, but I don't find them likely enough to invest anything in hoping for them.

My god, a popular Pokemon one third of all people who played XY used and 100% saw!
