[up][up]People will only cling on to the idea because the "scarf" is pink and its a frog.

Actually, when you play with Greninja in Pokemon-Amie, it will open it mouth if you make it happy, which reveals that, yes, the scarf is its tongue.

Wait, Shadow Sneak is a ghost-type move...

...Guess that pretty much deconfirms Protean, huh?

If it was Protean nothing but elemental attacks could hit him.

It was a joke.

Hm, a dragon on Pyrosphere. Probably means nothing.

Greninja is using a ghost move. Nice to see it's making good use of its varied movepool.

And now we likely know its full special moveset- Water Shuriken, Shadow Sneak, Substitute, Waterfall and Night Slash.

All that's left is the Final Smash, which is looking to be Night Slash or Acrobatics to me.

Waterfall?

That's Aqua Jet.

I'm calling it Waterfall for the moment since Greninja does not learn Aqua Jet and Waterfall is the only Water-type move that conveys vertical movement like that.

Neither does Mewtwo learn Teleport.

In any case, it looks to me a lot more like Aqua Jet than like Smash's interpretation of Waterfall.

All the same, it'd be nice if it was an actual move it learned, y'know?

Mewtwo oughta have Double Team instead if it comes back, and Pikachu's Skull Bash should probably be renamed Slam and Thunder Jolt Thunder Shock, while we're at it.

Pretty sure Mewtwo had Teleport in the earlier games anyway. Same deal with Skull Bash.

I'm still confused why Lucario's counter was Double Team instead of the actual move Counter, since it's one of the first moves it learns from level up. It's even Fighting-type to boot!

It seems to be just because of the animation itself. He splits into two characters just like the move. Just take a look. Seems like a silly reason, but eh.

I would imagine they'd come up with what move to use before they start putting it into the game, though.

Maybe because they already had a few characters with a plain "counter" move, and wanted something more flashy for Lucario?

@39412

Well, one week later, I finally watched the Direct. And I didn't make it through the first half because I had to stop the moment Ridley's shadow appeared at the 7-minute mark.

Congratulations all, we can't use that joke about Ridley's size anymore... at least, not unless For turns out to have a slew of technical problems.

Wait, it's a spoiler that Ridley's a stage hazard, now?

[up] It's hard to say it's a spoiler when it's not even confirmed what his role is. Various hints at that, but that's it.

And we already know being part of a stage doesn't bar you from being playable. Plus, there's more than one literal Ridley to exist. Just like there's more than one version of Toon Link(WW/PH and ST are even two different people). So it's not hard to believe that even if he did become a stage hazard, he could become a separate playable character too. Doesn't mean it'll happen. He might not even be a stage hazard. But yeah, we'll just have to wait and see.

I'll give you that we could be dealing with another Alfonso situation here, otherwise, unless he's pulling Lying Creator about the whole Ridley thing, there's not really any reason he'd show the clip of him while talking about hazards only to reveal that he's not a hazard.

He's a Trolling Creator. He wouldn't actually be lying either. Ridley is a boss in the Metroid series, and can show up on the Pyrosphere as well... while being playable.

It's easy for guys like him to twist the semantics just to get away with something you wouldn't expect. Also, he did outright say "Anything in this direct may change before release"(paraphrased). So unless he confirms him outright as a stage hazard(and keeps it that way without him being playable by the time of release), there's just no way to tell. He's made it clear before that not everything shown on Miiverse is permanent either. We'll find out any changes upon release, respectively.
