So I was here thinking about what if Sceptile would be an playable character, and here are some things in mind.
- Normal A: Sceptile does multiple hits with its hand
- Forwards A: Sceptile does a short swipe with its leaves.
- Up A: Sceptile swipes the air
- Down A: Sceptile does a sweeping kick
- Dashing A: Sceptile does a running swipe with its leaves.
- Air A: Sceptile does a quick jab with its arm
- Forwards Air A: Sceptile does a swipe with its leaves
- Back Air A: Sceptile kicks backwards
- Up Air A: Scpetile swipes with its leaves above itself
- Down Air A: Scpetile spins around, hitting the opponent with its tail.
- Forwards Smash: Sceptile focuses and does a dual slash with its leaves
- Up Smash: Scpetile focuses ad does a dual slash with its leaves over tis head
- Down Smash: Sceptile focuses and spins on the floor, hitting the opponent with its tail.
- Grab: Sceptile grabs onto the opponent with both hands. Puller has it using Absorb on the opponent.
- Neutral B: Leaf Blade: Scpetile's leaves glow green as Scpetile does rapid slashes with them. Has a chance of doing more damage at random.
- Side B: Night Slash: Sceptile disappears for a moment as it does a lightning fast slash forwards. Can be used as an horizontal recovery
- Up B: X-Scissor: Sceptile leaps into the air as it does a dual slash with its leaves. Used as a vertical recovery.
- Down B: Slam: Sceptile does a short hop as it spins around and slams its tail into the ground. In the air, Scpetile just does the spin and slam down.
- Final Smash: Frenzy Plant: Sceptile plants its hands into the ground as spiky vines sprout from the ground. At this state, you can control where the vines will travel and pressing a button will cause the vines to sprout out, hitting the opponents.

Only sometimes postsAs much as it hurts me to say this, I don't see them adding nor Sceptile, nor any grass pokémon.
I'm not one myself, but there seems to be more Greninja fans (and of course charizard is pretty much the fan favorite) than there is for any grass starters especially nowadays.
... Trought I agree, if they chose to add more pokémon, I would gladly take a grass type, and Sceptile seems fun to play as.
If you think he has a chance to make it in, then I will glady take him over any other pokémon character revealed .
If they added Grovyle, it would be a representative from a spin-off franchise, since Mystery Dungeon of Space/Time/Sky had one as a rather important plot character. That and Grovyle's design is a thousand times cooler than Sceptile's.
Grass Pokemon would be at a big disadvantage in Super Smash Bros because there are a lot of fire hazards and barely any water hazards. The water moves in Brawl weren’t even damaging and any Water Pokemon would swim way better than any Grass. As such I couldn’t guess what kind of strength a Grass Pokemon could even have in a game like this…

You gotta believe me when I scare you away, all that I wish for is that you would staySerperior would be way more interesting than Sceptile. :/
Come on guys... non-humanoid! Grass type from an unrepresented gen!
Also, regarding number of Pokemon Reps: considering how popular the games are, it getting 7 reps (current four, + Jigglypuff, Mewtwo and Grass Starter) wouldn't be out of the question, in my eyes.
To compare it to the Mario (+ Spin-Off) characters:
- Smash 64: 2 Mario (+ 2 (4) Spin-Off) & 2 Pokemon
- Melee: 5 Mario (+ 2 (7) Spin-Off) & 4 Pokemon
- Brawl: 4 Mario (+ 4 (8) Spin-Off) & 6 Pokemon
- For: 5 Mario (+ 4 (9) Spin-Off, if Wario returns) & 7 Pokemon
I think that Mario and its spin-offs combined having 2 (or more) more than Pokemon is pretty balanced, overall.
I'm not exactly sure how many Nintendo protagonists or major villains don't have humanlike shapes, anyways.

Plus, it's always amazing to time Pokemon Change just right that you can avoid Light Arrow/Critical Hit.

The New Age of Awesome is here! Not even the sky is the limit!Well obviously.
Up until the move's recovery ends up giving the game enough time to spawn one right on top of him, anyway.

Who knows, maybe Dark Samus may get the Little Mac treatment and be upgraded to playable in Smash 5 whenever that comes about.
