This is a thing that's going to sell Wii U's. The thing that's going to sell Wii U's is Mario Kart.
We-ll, the Wii U sales may be dented by the game competing with itself on the 3DS, but we'll see.
Wouldn't it be cool if one of Mario's customizable moves was FLUDD? Like, if he could choose the repelling Spray Nozzle, extra lateral recovery with the Hover Nozzle , extra vertical recovery with the Rocket Nozzle, or a crazy charged dash with the Turbo Nozzle.
I have a message from another time...Mario Kart franchise sales to date: 97.42 million, making it the best-selling of the Mario spin-offs.
Smash Bros. franchise sales to date: 22.78 million, not enough to account for the difference in the amount of games.
Individual sales of Mario Kart Wii (as of December 31, 2013): 35.26 million, making it the second-best selling Wii game behind Wii Sports. Being made the pack-in title late in the console's life helped, but that was after Wii fever had died down, and that it was made the pack-in in the first place is telling.
Individual sales of Super Smash Bros. Brawl (as of March 31, 2013): 11.49 million, making it the ninth-best selling Wii game.
Individual sales of Mario Kart 7 (as of March 31, 2013): 9.35 million, making it the second-best selling 3DS game behind Pokemon X and Y.
Wii systems shipped as of December 31, 2013: 100.9 million
3DS systems shipped as of December 31, 2013: 42.74 million
Despite having less than half the number of 3DS systems in the wild as Wii's, Mario Kart 7 only has 2 million less copies sold than Brawl, and Brawl nowhere near approaches the number sold by Mario Kart Wii.
It's not even a contest, guys.
Hasil: VG Chartz isn't the greatest source, since they often make up numbers before an official sales tracker puts out their numbers (at which point they change theirs). But I used Nintendo's internal numbers (found on Wikipedia) so the point stands.

To be fair to Brawl, it is the best selling fighting game of all time by a clean margin.
But he's right - Mario Kart's so much bigger it's not even funny, no matter how much older fans much noise about Smash.
Those games are 6 years old each - I think it's pretty safe to say they've been changed by now.

Now compare the sales of New Super Mario Bros. Wii
with New Super Mario Bros. U
.
I feel pretty confident that sales are going to be much lower for both Smash and Mario Kart.
Hmm, interesting. It seems that Spirit Tracks Link and Alfonzo in Spirit Tracks stage will be picked at random. In the Direct, we see Toon Link as the conductor. But in the screenshots, Alfonzo is in them even when neither of the Links are there.
Only sometimes postsI did the math (because I'm a nerd, and why not), and in order for Smash Bros. to be considered objectively a better seller than Mario Kart, it would need to have more than 53.15 million in sales across the franchise, accounting for the fact that there are 2.33 times more Mario Kart games than Smash Bros.
Cassidy: New Super Mario Bros. U is a launch game, while New Super Mario Bros. Wii was released while there were 70 million+ people who owned Wii's in the world. Not quite the same situation.
And yes, they're obviously going to be smaller. The people who bought 70 million Wii's aren't biting on Wii U. But that doesn't mean Kart doesn't have the potential to move systems.

@Deadbeatloser: This has been settled, but I just want to point out that even if Mewtwo were objectively terrible in Melee (and as far as I know that's only on a competetive level), he was fun as heck to play as anyways. Even his leaning-on-an-edge animation reeks of "I don't give a crap."
@ZSS Concept Art: "I'm really going to enjoy drawing this!"
Just as great as the footnotes about the heels, imo.

Or Remote Mine?
Because Pirate Man is awesome? ...I can dream.
Obviously, we'll be allowed to replace Leaf Shield with Power Stone.
🏳️⚧️she/her | Vio Rhyse AlberiaPulse: Agreed. However, Mario Kart Wii had an attach rate of almost 1 in 3, which is extraordinary. Galaxy, the best-selling game for the system that didn't have "Wii" in its title, had an attach rate of slightly more than 1 in 10. Which is generally where a Killer App lives. To Brawl's credit, it's only slightly less than 1 in 10, which is, as I said, a great figure. But Mario Kart can't even hear that over the third of all Wii Systems in existence that have it sitting next to them.
We should just replace all moves with Metal Blade.
On that note, I do find it amusing that Metal Blade is so defining it's his neutral B move. Those are usually the most iconic abilities, and Metal Blade certainly left an impression.

You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!
